THIS IS WHY THEY HATE FOX NEWS CHANNEL.

THIS IS WHY THEY HATE FOX NEWS CHANNEL.

Brit Hume had a bit on his "Special Report" last night about a new television ad from Moveon.org, the 527 group financed by that shadowy Hungarian-born international financier who, by the way, hates George Bush. The television ad shows a picture of an AK47 automatic rifle. The ad says "This ... can fire up to 300 rounds a minute. ... In the hands of a terrorist it could kill hundreds ... But on September 13th George Bush will [have] let the assault weapons ban expire." Hume then points out that this particular gun has been banned in the U.S. since the Firearms Act was passed in 1934. They are banned today. You can't own one without a special and very hard-to-get permit from the feds. So, Moveon.org lied. But that's not the news here. We already know that Moveon.org lies in their PAC ads. The news here is that you heard about this from Fox News Channel. You can bet your right to Social Security payments (might as well bet something of no real value) that you would never see The New York Times, the Boston Globe, CBS, NBC, ABC or CNN ever report this particular story. Fox News did, and that's why liberals hate Fox News so much. Just reporting that Moveon.org has an adverse relationship with the truth is proof of bias.

As a famous old Dem used to say, "I don't give em hell! I just tell the truth and they think it's hell!"

to tell the truth is being conservative bias b/c libs policies are compounded falsehoods like raising taxes will actually help the economy and others in the lower income brackets, raising minimum wage helps people. Anybody who has two bits worth of common sense knows this is BS.

IMHO, both conservativism and liberalism are lenses through which objective reality is viewed. Conservativism just happens to be the far less distorted of the two.

Liberals and the MSM are allergic to the truth and are naturally repulsed by Fox News.

Sort of like Dracula and the crucifix.

one error of no consequence.. the following is incorrect: "banned in the U.S. since the Firearms Act was passed in 1934." it should read... banned in the U.S. since the Firearms Act was passed in 1968. Also known as the NFA of 1968

Well, yes and no.

The National Firearms Act of 1934 did indeed place heavy restrictions on fully automatic weapons. For all practical purposes, that's when fully automatic weapons became "banned" in the US (although it was still possible to own them by jumping through regulatory hoops and being monitored by the feds).

The Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968 (not the NFA, as you say) had nothing to do with automatic weapons.

The ironically named Firearm Owner's Protection Act (FOPA) of *1986*, however, outright banned the private ownership of automatic weapons manufactured after that date, although the 1934 law still applied to the ownership of pre-1986 firearms.

William F. Buckley, Jr. was once asked--on Larry King Live--of all places, what conservatism consisted of. His answer is the most succinct and correct I've ever heard. He said, "Conservatism is essentially nothing more than a political philosophy which accepts what's true."

That hit home with me because it confirmed something I've said to my liberal siblings for years, when they told me there would be no refugees from Vietnam, the Soviets really wanted peace, welfare helps people, and so on and so on: "You'd rather believe an easy lie than an difficult truth."

Fox seems conservative because they actually report what's happening, and that's why it resonates with us.

Truth may be powerful but that power relies the receptiveness of the party receiving it. Rejection of the truth can be explained by the psychological term "cognitve dissonance". For example, even after numerous and published recounts of the Florida 2000 election many Democrats still believe Bush stole the election.

The AK47 is illegal to own...unless you're John Kerry. This is the weapon he claims to have as a souvenir of his service in Vietnam ('cuz owning an M16 is illegal).

Groups like "Nuts for Brady" and the MSM have been glossing over this fact for years. The AWB did nothing to stop the sale of fully automatic firearms.

Heck, a year or two ago some station down in Broward county did a bit on it where they had the Sheriff of Broward county (FL) firing a fully automatic firearm at some cinder blocks.

Course the Sheriff down there is anti-gun and went along with it.
