"...before this Memogate.."

Please accept my criticism in the spirit in which it is offered, but I think it would be best that everyone refer to this as "Rathergate" in each written and spoken communication. Memogate was specific to other Dem criminalities before this incident. It may be best to make sure they are referenced separately. (Besides........hee hee, ha ha, ho ho...........).

Rather has flown to Dallas apparently to help his CBS people in Dallas get their stories straight and bolster their defense.

Rather is not only coaching his CBS crew on how to lie for effect, but Dan's there in Texas to make sure his daughter, Robin--who is deeply enmeshed in the Travis County Forgery Affair--is kept completely out of the scandal as the dredging-net widens and begins to fill with a growing Rogue's Gallery of perps .

Here's some interesting detail on Robin Rather's heavy foot in Texas Democratic politics--and why Dan has serious family interests in helping out the DNC, the Kerry Campaign and, especially Ben Barnes to bring down President Bush with bogus documents out of Texas.

Dan Rather's obligation

Nor did we learn about Dan Rather’s personal fund raising efforts on behalf of the Travis County Democratic Party, where Ben Barnes sits on the Finance Council. Rather raised $20,000 for the organization on March 21, 2001, at an event at which his daughter Robin and Ben Barnes were co-sponsors.

Rather has extensive personal ties to Travis county: he owns a home in the Austin area, and his daughter Robin, an environmentalist and marketing executive, is said to have considered running for mayor of Austin as a Democrat. Rather has now said that he attended the fundraiser as a favor to his daughter, but he told Howard Kurtz in the Washington Post on April 4, 2001 that he agreed to appear “at the invitation of an old friend, Austin City Council member Will Wynn.” Rather’s appearance at a Democratic Party fundraiser was contrary to the official policies of CBS and most of the MSM.

Now, three years later, Rather interviewed the same fellow without disclosing the reporter’s previous involvement in raising money for the Democratic Party of Travis County, or his other, even larger, conflict of interest. If Robin Rather wants to have a future in Democratic politics in Austin, she needs the support of Ben Barnes and the other movers and shakers among Travis County Democrats, including those on the Finance Council.

Jack Risko

Read Risko's whole article for some good surgical work on what lies behind the scene down there in Travis County. Looks like Dan's forged documents are not only a felony attack on a sitting President but are being used as levers to elevate his daughter, Robin, into a power position as Austin's future Mayor.

"Wasn't Dan Rather one of the ones responsible for causing the mess in Florida last election by calling it prematurely?"

Speaking of which, there should be preemptive action to make sure a "gentleman" as biased as Blather-boy does not report on election night.

Typical liberal response. Don't address the question, mock the person who asked it!

Keep running down other news outlets, that's the way to gain back respect and credibility......NOT!!!!!!!!

You're TOAST, Dan.

Emily Will, a documents expert approached by CBS to examine the memos, told NEWSWEEK that she was told by a CBS News producer that the network's source had received the memos anonymously through the mail.

Reminds me of the comic strip Bloom County (see for cast of characters) by Berkley Breathed. Binkley had a closet of anxieties. He was in his anxiety closet once when there was a knock. "Who's there?" he asked. "Mike Wallace. 60 Minutes" was the reply.

Watching a grown man meltdown over a silly Communist ideology, destroying himself, his name, embarrassing his family and friends...what a shame.

It would help if I put in the link for the cast of characters: http://home.comcast.net/~oriecat23/characters.htm. Sorry

Point of trivia: Cronkite is actually Krankheit, the German word meaning 'illness.'

Cronkite was on a CSPAN program last night with Brian Williams. It was sad to watch. Senility is catching up with Cronkite big time. He should never have appeared. The class act for those who are losing it is to just fade away, and leave the memories of when they were in their prime.

The reporter, from the local Fox affiliate, asked Rather if he felt he was duped. Rather shot back, "Do you feel like you were duped -- working for Fox like you do?"

Had Rather answered "yes" a week ago much of the suspicion and criticism pointed at him personally would have subsided.

As Rather quickly walks away, FOX reporters should yell after him:

"Mr. Rather, what did you know and when did you know it? Mr. Rather, can you answer the questions, PLEASE!!???"

"One person at the network, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Burkett had been at the very least a go-between for the documents, but that very few people at the network know from whom he might have obtained them, if anyone."

Sounds like it'll be difficult to pin this one entirely on Burkett (at least to the level of beyond a reasonable doubt @ FR).

So if Dan flew to Dallas this morning, I don't think he'll be anchoring the CBS news tomorrow. Could it be possible that he has been suspended, fired or "told to take a break"?

Maybe I'll be like Buckhead and break a big story.

Better bookmark this post! :-)

His response is telling. So basically he buys into the whole Michael Moore/Al Franken view of Fox News. Might as well admit that he thinks F/911 was an accurate movie too.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for him?

He wanted our President on the run, now he finds himself the focus of the chase. I have no sympathy for this man.

I'd like to see more of the elite 'journalists' right where Dan is at this moment. Experiencing the bitter treatment they have gleefully subjected others to.
