WASHINGTON It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.
But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes and who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Los Angeles Times has found.
Spu-spu-sputter!!!
You mean, there are actually, really people on this forum who are ACTIVE Republicans, who give money to the Bush campaign, who engage in protest activities, who show up at the Supreme Court, who, who, who FREEP??
I'm so disillusioned right now. Think I better head over to DU where it is completely non-partisan.
Personally, I was rooting for quidam to be Ken Starr himself!
With a name like RepublicanArmy, you're not a REPUBLICAN, are you????
What is of overriding importance is that he was perceptive, curious, and accurate in his findings.
Any charges re: motivations can and should be written off as pure politics.
Isn't is pathetic that the best argument that CBS and the Kerry Campaign can make to undermine credibility is that he was a Republican?
Well take a look at my posts from the past & you tell me.

Oh & I've also been here since Since Oct 27, 2002
As for my choice of screen name it was carried over from a group I was putting together (I.E. meaning an army of Republican's to combat the dimwitted democrats). But thankfully I found Free Republic instead.
Now I'm giving you enough info to show you that I am a Republican & doing it in a nice way, but a little advice for you in the future... Don't imply someone isn't a Republican when you have all the proof laid out before that he/she is one by simply checking out their posts.
I may have read your post wrong so if I did & you were just asking nicely if I am a Republican then the answer is yes & the proof is in the other post I made. Again if you were just asking then I am sorry for being a jerk, if not.....
I guess the fact the story was broken by a Republican Lawyer lessens its credibility; but that fact that a Deocratic activist was the source does not.
Wonder how they will react when they discover the forger was a Democrat?
Ah, yes, of course! Republicans created FreeRepublic 8 years ago and enlisted the enigmatic "Buckhead" so that the RNC would be well-positioned to discredit forged Dan Rather memos in the 2004 election! That Karl Rove is ever more brilliant than previously alleged!! Absolutely Machiavellian! </sarcasm OFF>
McAuliff trolls DU, and I'm quite certain that many well connected folks on both sides participate, or at least review, the information posted at FR rather routinely. Maybe CBS and the rest of the MSM should take a hint.
So the real question remains ... when did Buckhead put on his Pajamas? And were they 2 piece .. or 'footies'?
I will not sit idly by and wait for answers - I demand an investigation at the highest levels of government into 'Flannel-Gate' NOW NOW NOW!!
(Did it really take a deep investigation to figure out that 'buckhead' was in ATL?)
Final note: this latest string of reporting about Buckhead, in my little mind at least, does nothing more than strengthen arguments for the legitimacy of the bloggo-sphere. MSM reporters are now using information available on the internet to research and corroborate their stories. If their reporting on the identity of 'Buckhead' is legitimate, then he, and the other bloggers who posted early on this issue, were clearly using a legitimate form of information research and dissemination.
To the media trolls and lurkers (CBS/ABC/NBC/CNN/MSNBC/FOX/WP/LAT/NYT et al) reading all about this from your cubicles in NY: welcome to the next generation of information-interaction.
News is now full-duplex. Get used to it.
BFD!
I was simply being tongue-in-cheek. I was entertained by the fact that the media is horrified to find Republicans frequenting FreeRepublic, like it is an earth-shattering revelation. Your moniker simply amused me in light of this. No offense taken.
Ahh ok sorry for the sharp tounge, my apologies...
I'm not going to hold my breath for a CBS or NYT investigation into this. They might get an answer they don't like.
Stop right there......he's linked to the GOP?????? Then his discovery is absolutely suspect.
Anyone can see that's a blatantly fake description. There are no armadillos in Maine.
I'm shocked. LOL
HAHAHAHA so thier point is ??????? Does that meant the memos are real then ? Stupid article from a leftist newspaper
Sheez, if CBS would have been a little less zealous to take a hit at W, they would have seen the same thing.
