RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie Statement on CBS
RNC ^ | 9/20/2004 | Christine Iverson

Washington, DC--Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie issued the following statement on CBS’s admission today that memos regarding the President’s National Guard service are not real.

“We accept CBS's apology for a breach of the journalistic standards that provide the American people confidence in news organizations, but some disturbing questions remain unanswered.

“CBS has now answered questions about the authenticity of the documents but questions remain surrounding who created the documents, who provided them to CBS and if Senator Kerry's supporters, Party committee, or campaign played any role.

“Did Bill Burkett, Democrat activist and Kerry campaign supporter, who passed information to the DNC, work with Kerry campaign surrogate Max Cleland? Did Bill Burkett's talks with ‘senior’ Kerry campaign officials include discussions of the now discredited documents? Was the launch of the Democrat National Committee's Operation Fortunate Son designed with knowledge of the faked forged memos? Terry McAuliffe said yesterday that no one at the DNC or Kerry campaign, ‘had anything to do with the preparations of the documents,’ but what about the distribution or dissemination?

“In an effort to regain the trust of the American people CBS should not only investigate the process that led to the use of these documents but they should identify immediately those engaged in possible criminal activity who attempted to use a news organization to affect the outcome of a Presidential election in its closing days.”

"Another benefit of all this is that it's becoming crystal clear sKerry can't even run a presidential campaign. Do Americans want to trust such an incompetent with the country, with our families' lives?"

Heck, they couldn't even run the baloon drop!

We wait for ABCNNBC BS and the rest of the MSM to fully investigate these criminal acts committed by CBS and others.

In the meantime we will continue to expose ABCNNBC BS and the rest of the MSM as serial Ratheriars.

In a boxing match....when one of the fighters no longer can defend himself....and he is sustaining a continual barrage of blows....the referee steps in and calls the fight.

That's not going to happen here :)

RNC is gonna make sure that this pain continues for 15 rounds.

Exactly, and that omission is going to leave a mark.

"...the latest Kerry spin is to call Iraq another Vietnam..."

I have no doubt as to how Kerry will address the war in Iraq if he is elected.. It will simply be Kerry's "Vietnam the model" redux.

We are losing the war, we cannot win the war, it is the wrong war, at the wrong place, at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons, too many American troops are losing their lives. And the famous Kerry senate Vietnam speech coup de gra, "which American service man wants to be the last to die for nothing."

Kerry will abandon the Iraqis to the Islamist fascist terrorists the same way he, and I mean he, advocated his Vietnam policy of cut and run. Leaving the South Vietnamese, the indigenous mountain tribes and over one million slaughtered Cambodians to the tender mercies of insane murderers whom Kerry said were just, "peaceful agrarian reformers."

It's past time for the RNC to get into action. A federal judge ordered the Pentagon to release ALL of President Bush's military records under the "Freedom of Information Act", why hasn't the same action been taken for Kerry's complete military record release. Why hasn't the RNC pushed this?

Rather's arrogance will elect Bush.

The President's character and performance will elect him. rather's arrogance will only add to the landslide.

This was perfectly phrased down to the last punctuation mark. Well said indeed. In all this I notice the GOP always error on the side of caution, Ed could have talked about the so-called phone call between Cleland and Burkett, but instead choose a more 'objective', 'proffessional' tone. In contrast, the Dems seem to error on the opposite side, accusing the pres of treason, awol, desertion, 'fortunate son', corruption, betrayal, haliburton you name it. All unproven, undocumented, unsubstantiated... and yet we never hear of this. It is a constant double standard that must grow more glaring everyday to people following this stuff....

About FRIKKIN' time. I was beginning to think that no Democrat would ever be held to any legal standard whatsoever. Talk is a good start, but we wanna see grand juries and indictments.

I think so too..

Here's the new game... CBS/Kerry Kamp/DNC, do not know whether WH has the goods on EVERY SINGLE PERSON INVOLVED in this or not. If they try to get away with 'throwing a crumb', the deeper they dig the whole for the lot of them..

I can't smell a 'perp walk' yet, but it's imminent.. inch by inch, sloooooooowly I turn...hehehehe. Will the whole of the party be willing to completely blow itself up for Kerry/CBS?? Bunch of critical Senate seats at risk... LOSE IT ALL FOR KERRY? ALL?? Furthermore, the MSM will have to decide if they are going to circle their wagons around a pile of crap. Hmmmmm... They're going down either way... Next document 'revelation' will have full scrutiny, and who will want to hitch themselves to that?

Thank goodness, that settles that. Knowing the Democrat Party had nothing to do with this is a load off my mind.

Robert Tuke of Nashville and Max Cleland were together at a rally in mid-August. This is about the same time Tuke supposedly made some comments on the air in Nashville that documents were going to be forthcoming pertaining to Bush, and TxANG. Tuke is associated with several vets groups. So are Burkett and Heldt.

Some low level person in the RNC should say,

"Well, if it's like Nam then why doesn't Senator Kerry accuse our troops of Warcrimes and fly to Baghdad to meet with the enemy"

Bush agreed to having the records released, KERRY WILL NOT SIGN THE FORM 180.

The only double standard is from kerry, not the Judge.
