"If it is not self-evident to you that Al-Qaeda is evil, you are probably a liberal-minded person that thinks 9/11 happened because not enough baby Arabs are breast-fed long enough."

I never said al-Qaeda wasn't evil, only that it wasn't fascist. And it's not. It's ISLAMIC, and the product of a primitive, savage society and culture, and a religion that's awfully short on "love thy neighbor as thyself".

As for the Soviet Union, it does fit many criteria for tradtional fascism such as glorification of the state, hypermilitarism, hyperpatriotism, demonization of an "other" such as capitalists, "imperialists", Jews etc., government alliance with State-owned corporations. I could go on, but let's say that--for once--I agree with left writer Susan Sontag who referred to communism as "left-wing" fascism.

I am getting tired of the line, "You must vote Republican because the alternative is so bad."

So?

When will the Republicans nominate a conservative?

If you want a conservative to run who will suit you, run your damn self.

Any other questions?

The Republic would be well-served by his defeat this November.

I disagree.

However, there's nothing wrong with legitimate criticism of less-than-conservative issues he may have taken up in the past or present.

When you belong to a political party that supports principles that are well-founded in logic, reason, and Constitutional law, it is much easier to function in an opposition role than in a governing one -- because these principles are self-evident and easily defended.

This sets up a contradiction though - if the principles are so easy to defend, why are they so hard to implement?

Because politicians are generally more interested in preserving their power than doing what is right for the nation.

If someone can counter this author and tell me why I should vote again for GWB, feel free.

I can tell you without reading the article. One does not vote for someone that represents your values and your vision: typically, such creature does not exist. One votes instead for a candidate that, on balance, is closest to one's values and vision. Now, presently, you have two choices (no, not three: if you stay at home you effectively vote for Kerry, no matter how you lull your conscience to sleep --- there are more Democrats in this country than Republicans). It is therefore a no-brainer: if you think that Kerry is more conservative than Bush --- according to your own measures --- then you definitely should vote for him.

You seem to have a touch of narcissist personality: come, sing me a lullaby; tell me how I should think about making a choice. It is rather strange to hear such questions from an adult.

Hope you'll be happy with your choice. Stick with true conservatives, vote for Kerry.

Who went with YOU to the senior prom?

Your mama did.

She wouldn't have gone near your fuzzy, rodent looking carcass. Seriously, that looks like something my dog killed a while back. What the f**k is that critter supposed to be anyway? Again, I'm assuming it's your high school yearbook pic until you convince me otherwise.

"Your mama did"

Actually, with a comeback like that, I don't think you are a high school senior, yet. A 16 year old freshman, maybe. You'd better get off your mom's PC before her boyfriend pushes you off the chair so he can download porn.

They are easy to defend from an "opposition" standpoint because the party out of power doesn't have to provide detailed insight into how things should be done -- they simply have to point out that what is being done doesn't work (which is usually the case these days). Once you are no longer an opposition party and instead become a governing party, you have to face the realities of governing in a democratic system where rational, logical thought rarely plays a role in government policy.

Interesting description of the opposition.... One little thing left out is that the opposition has been the major reason why "what is being done doesn't work".

Your fixation with high school tells me you must have been beaten up often, and not too ago at that.

High School?

High School's been out for two decades, son.

Your ten seconds are up.

The article is nonsensical. I'm not going to do your homework for you though. A lot of the "facts" in this hit piece are not facts.

One can make valid criticisms of the President and the article did include some. The fact of the matter is simple...We have the choice between Kerry and the President and the choice is more than clear.

"fixation with high school"

Not a fixation with high school per se, just that judging by your posts, you must be an adolescent, if not in age then in emotional development. I'm done with you, junior, so flame away and keep posting dead animal pictures.
