Wis. Supreme Court rules Nader on the state ballot

MADISON, Wis. - The state Supreme Court decided Thursday to put independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader back on the Wisconsin ballot.
The Democratic Party of Wisconsin sued to knock Nader off the ballot, arguing the longtime consumer activist had failed to meet the minimal standards required to be listed as a presidential candidate.
But the court ruled Nader had substantially complied with Wisconsin requirements for ballot access and should be on the ballot. The ruling overturned a circuit judge's decision earlier this week that temporarily knocked Nader off.
The court's decision could have huge implications for the presidential race in Wisconsin, one of about a dozen states that could decide who wins the election. Some Democrats still blame Nader's 2000 candidacy for helping President Bush win and fear he could again siphon votes away from their nominee, John Kerry.
A poll released Thursday found 6 percent of respondents supported Nader, and the Republican Party of Wisconsin filed a brief Wednesday urging the Supreme Court to put him back on the ballot.
The Dems have been doing this all over the country, yet it is the GOP who they (and the media) say are trying to "disenfranchise" voters.
Score one for my fellow members of the Wisconsin bar!
Woohoo !

sweet!
That's 2% of the Wisconsin vote not going to Kerry.
I used to drink in Wisconsin bars, when I was stationed at GLakes.
Go Nader!
Anyone know?
Having Nader on the ballot is just about the last coffin nail for sKerry in the state of Wisconsin. Did you notice how many time sKerry mentioned midwest states in his "debate answers"? He knows he is bleeding, and bleeding bad.
It is commonly agreed that allowing Nader on the WI ballot will hurt Kerry but assist popular liberal Senator Feingold to a third term.
It is not too late for Nader to throw his support to Kerry.
November surprise.
I actually thought early on that Nader was angling to do a last minute endorsement - but the constant personal attacks and court fights to keep him off the ballot may have nixed this idea.
