I think Joe Scarborough is right on, Kerry performed better than Bush in the debate. Unfortunately for Kerry, people just don't agree with his positions or believe that he means what his smooth debate talk says.

Kerry didn't gain much, if any ground.

Bush is still doing fine and took no body blows here.

There aren't hardly any swing voters left in this election. The WOT made early deciders out of most people already. And most people are more partisan in their outlook which is normal in wartime elections.

This election is still all about turning out the base of the two parties. Or stealing enough votes to win in certain states.

He's a great short-term liar(on the spot, when he can't be held accountable by the actual facts), BS'er, and misleader, good attack style...

Agreed. Kerry is a silver-tounged devil.

Kondracke said the same thing I'm saying, Bush needed to challenge Kerry on his lies, and didn't. What a missed opportunity.

Both Russert and the CNN heads said it was pretty much a draw. But the CNN guy said the on the fence candidates might look at Kerry again.

he hopes...he hopes..

OOoh, eeh, aah, ummm...

For the people out there who don't eat and breath this stuff like we do -- they are going to think Kerry came across as informed and intelligent.

Bush better have somebodies ass tonight, he came across as completely unprepared. He never hammered home just WTF this big master plan is? Where is this money coming from? It was like Bush kept walking into Kerry's punches. Man, I was not expecting this.

Here's my take on it.

Kerry proved he's the better debater. However, he did not win the debate, because beyond al the style point to win a debate he had to convince the audience that he's right, and he didn't do that, because he's so abysmally wrong.

Kerry's the star defense attorney who pulls out all the skills he can muster, Bush's the plain spoken prosecutor who laid out the evidence and said "I rest my case."

The Jury might be more impressed with Kerry as a lawyer, they'll still vote to convict.

The best lines to use against kerry:

"Global Test"

"I have never wavered in my life"

The debate tonight. Two empty suits trying not to make a mistake. They should both be ashamed. Not much from the heart.

When Kerry kept spewing his lies, all I could think of was the Augean stables that Preident Bush was expected to clean.

Anyone that thinks Bush won in 2000 because of debates or that he will win in 2004 because of debates is falling for the MSM Lefty spin...

this is true in part, but Kerry will benefit from this debate.

OK DU....I'll take my President over your sorry assed flip-flop artist any day, any time, any where. Bush did just fine with facts and information. Kerry just blathered on with my idea, my plan yada yada yada. Go Bush.

Excellent closing statement by Bush. Kerry was articulate in his attacks, but Bush sincere in defending his policies.

Ah, this from the flip flopper who never ever flip flops.

Anyone watching a political debate for the first time must be thinking they're in the land of Oz.
