Kerry is known for his great debating skills. He's so smooth. How do you think he managed to turn his wife from a Republican to a Democrat, then marry her for her fortune.

OTOH, honest political critics should see thru the BS and judge the substance of answers. Kerry lost with his inconsistancy.

Two more debates to go. But I tell you, there were NO undecided voters watching this tonight.

Take heart, it didn't hurt Bush badly at all. He will WIN in Nov.

I don't think Bush came across very well. However, Kerry made 3 major blunders that I caught. The first was that he said that he would not have gone into Iraq knowing what we now know, a direct contradiction to a recent question that specifically asked this. The second was that we needed to pass "a global test". And the third was that he was going to shut down the bunker-busting nuke program. And, of course he lied throughout. It is ashamed that Bush did not mention that it was the failed treaty orchestrated by Democrats with North Korea that accounted for the current situation. And that North Korea was trying to blackmail the US by insisting on bilateral talks with the US.

Democratic Undergroud is laughing at all the doom and gloom over here.

I think to many freepers expected a knock-out punch tonight since things have been going our way since the Democratic Convention.

The bottom line is that John Kerry sounded like he would bend over if the rest of the world asked us to. President Bush sounded like the United States came first as he explained why he pulled us out of the World Court.

Message the the DU. Kerry is your used car salesman and I'm not buying.

Isn't is just damn fascinating how posters that I've never seen hide nor hair of on FR before show up to post their doom and gloom comments on these live threads??

CORRECT! One poster claimed that Kerry won hands down but when I checked on the poster he only registered on September 15, 2004 and made only ONE other previous post---most likely to legitimatize himself.

I wish the President had asked Kerry to clarify his statement on giving nuclear fuel to Iran.

I give the edge to Kerry but doubt this will make much difference in the polls.

Peter Jennings reported that their ABC poll showed that 45% believed Kerry won the debate, 36% believed Bush won. BUT Bush picked up one percent of those polled in terms of who they'd vote for. He started with 50% of the votes of those polled, and ended with 51%. Go figure!

There is only one more debate for the President. The VP debate is the third debate. So Bush has one more round.

No. That is not correct.

There will be a townhall style Presidential debate and then another moderator-lead Presidential debate on domestic issues.

Nonsense. Kerry lost the election tonght. Here is why. It is unfortunate when people confuse relentlessly negative critical comments as intellectual sophistication. There is this strange fascination with a certain segment of Freepers. They seem to think if they are playing devils advocate ALL the time and making constantly critical comments about their own side, it makes them seem thoughtful and intelligent. Maybe we should have a term for this? Call it "McCainism" A metal defect that requires the victim to constantly critize their own side while NEVER pointing out where the other side blew it. Mccainism does not make you look smart. See REAL intelligence would be to provide some serious BALANCED review not this hysterical "OH WE LOST! IT IS ALL OVER" chicken little screech time after time, post after post.

Mark my words Boy's and Girls, John Kerry just lost the election tonight. Since most who suffer from McCainism seem to be lawyers, I will put it to you in terms you might understand. John Kerry may, or may not, have won the formal debate but he didn't win the Jury. And you people always forget this one fact. The JURY (i.e. The American people), not the Debate coaches decides the election.

John Kerry lost the election tonight people. You heard it here first.

I agree, sinkspur. Let's not turn this into a vast left wing conspiracy to give Kerry the questions ahead of time. Remember, there is a whole lot more of the world watching and reading FR than there was three weeks ago. We're not kooks so let's not support kooky theories that we all know aren't true.

He just lost 5 points in his lead.

Come on, the sky is not falling. Besides as far as I am concerned Polls don't mean sheite. Few minds were likely changed tonight. Kerry is a pompous ass, and that is indisputable and it cannot be hidden.

The president did not pick his nose or do anything gross at all. His position with the electorate is quite likely not compromised. Bush is going to kick Kerry's ass and it will be a lot of fun to watch in November, after we all take a few tranquilizers.

Kerry said there were no WMD'S - then he said WMD'S are going over the border. He said Saddam was a threat and Saddam was not a threat.

Yes, the President could have been nasty and vindictive as Kerry has been, but he didn't. I think many of us wanted him to slap Kerry down, that would not have been to his advantage in the long run.

The MSM will say Kerry won this debate, but they will have to try and find one item in that long debate where Kerry took a stand to prove it. They cannot.

I think that it went better than my initial impressions were. Bush had some chances to nail Kerry but let them go, and he repeated himself too much. I do think Kerry got in his smug talk down approach. He didn't articulate any really new plans. I think while Bush certainly could have done better, he didn't really cause much change one way or the other. I also believe Kerry opened himself up to some follow up bullets by his strectched of the truth.

I will not change my core values because of politics and pressure. Bush just won the election on that line.

Agree! That one struck the emotional chord.
