Freeping Polls a better method? (Vanity)

Posted on 10/01/2004 10:04:36 AM PDT by Names Ash Housewares

I think the DNC and DU are using software to sway the online polls. If they dont keep track of the IP Ive noticed that if you clear your cookies and cache you can vote all you want on some, tedious and time consuming. Now I know there is software to "teach" your mouse to do the same task over and over. THAT is what I think the left is doing. Some of these poll results are total jokes and simply not possible.

That is why online polls are neither scientific or accurate...

Some are running robot scripts, others are attacking these polls by brute force. You would be better served to send every editor and talk radio host a copy of the DNC email that indicated they would flood every poll they could con after the debate.

They tried to DUpe the public. Phone polls have not shown these same 88% Kerry results. Democrats are desperate, this is all they can do to sway public opinion.

You're right.

Anyone with a little java expertise could write a script to vote over and over.

Which is why I feel most online polls are worthless.

Unfortunately, the average sheeple doesn't know this. I'm sure they are influenced by the online polls, even though most polls have a disclaimer.

I'm more terrified of democrats using less than legal methods on the polls that count on 11/2

There was someone on FR that was quite good at hitting the polls. He could make them jump up hundreds of votes in seconds.

I am too. But I think it can be seen as illegal (and possibly twisted into hacking) by hitting a poll on a site repeatedly with a script. Could be construed as a DDoS

Hmm... we should have a central database, "surepticiously" check it. and let the thing fall into the DUmies hands... so that the vote they are thinking it gives, is not the real vote.

Not a central script chief, a little gui you can run on your desktop, with it throttled of course to prevent DDosing a poll.

Or better yet, no repeat votes, just one click and you voted the "party Line" on all polls in the db

That's an excellent point. Being from Florida I can tell you many Republicans here are very afraid that with our hurricane situation we're very vulnerable to voter fraud. And if the Dem's are anywhere close to beating George all the lawyers will find a way to hijack our state for Kerry. I know were still about 30 days away from the election but my polling place is gone and no one has as of yet been able to tell me where I'll go to vote. You can all expect Florida to be an even bigger mess than in 2000. Just hope for GW to have a landslide victory so it doesn't matter.

That's why I don't waste time with online polls. Especially at liberal media websites.

If we make code available it will equalize things. The left of course will steal any code we made readily available. Unless it checked a safe database stored somewhere of polls we want to freep, just to make it harder for the left to use it against us. I suppose keeping the source code unavalible will help. Im just guessing here. I think this is a worthy endeavour. But it must not be too simplistic so that the left wing masses can use it against us. A few safeguards would help.
The goal should not be to sway the online polls. The goal should be to render online polls as a joke. Thus getting rid of them as a political tool to sway voters.

Freeping Polls a better method?

As online polls are largely meaningless, what I'd prefer is a better method of handling the "Freep this poll" request on the main board. Many days the requests are really annoying and often stupid. Is policy really shaped by an online poll in Estherville, IA ?

IMHO, policy is NEVER influenced by online polls.

What if I went ahead and made something like this. It would pull from a database on Free Republic, and would only allow you to vote once.

Better yet, no db - just an ASCII file on the free republic site. I could have it done by tomorrow.
