XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

Remember...The difference between a conservative and a liberal is...A conservitive bases his politics on his morals...A liberal bases his morals on his politics...

Excellent point.

Kerry even looks slick as he is removing the paper from the inside of his jacket while all the while thinking he is covered by the podium in the front. Kerry is almost gleeful he is pulling a fast one.

People, if this story persists, the issue of Bush's performance is going to disappear. This is no different than CBS's fraudulent documents. The content becomes utterly insignificant if the mechanism is illegal. This is identical to throwing out evidence in a trial obtained illegally.

The last shreds of his security blankie?

The lucky hat that was given to him by the CIA guy?

A picture of his darling wife?

If it's a watch, let him say so. If it's his lucky rabbit's foot, let him say so. They weren't supposed to bring anything into the debate with them.

I just viewed th video on CSPAN and stopped it at i:40 +or-
and it surely is a piece of paper and it lays it on the podium. It's as clear as can be.
I enlarged it and it filled the screen. one can see it as plain as daylight.
Look for yourselves you doubters!!!!!

now having watched the video bite a dozen times , I would say that most definitely Kerry did produce a note from his suit
pocket , something that was clearly forbidden by the rules
of the debate . President Bush however appears to stand naturally and not be doing anything of the like.
These people are such weasels , nothing is beneath them in their quest for power.

A cheat sheet is not allowed and Bush could not have used one.

Here is one of the threads on debate night where many noticed that it appeared Lehrer had stacked the deck with questions aimed totally at the President omitting any aimed at Kerry's 20 year record in the Senate - putting the President on the defensive and Kerry on the offensive almost the entire night.

How would atheletes enjoy having to play defense 4/5ths of a game????

But there were other threads and some that night that talked of Kerry having the questions beforehand.....both seemed obvious to me and I was one of the few who still thought President Bush was the clear Victor.....simply for not slugging the windsurfing cheater next to him......but also for being extremely good on the questions themselves.

Face it. sKerry lied about lying during the debate. It is of no surprise he would cheat.

Frankly, I think Bush could have done better during this debate also. I don't see this as any excuse for his performance. But if he did see sKerry pull those notes out at the beginning that might have attributed to his being thrown off a bit. Someone here mentioned Bush making notes and reading off the best answer. Strange. Since so many of his answers were the same. If he had notes he might have thrown in a few more zingers.

Or would Americans feel this is the GW camp trying to push this and playing the sore-loser part.

I don't think the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign has said anything about this yet. Have you seen anything from the campaign itself?
