XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

Oh, I forgot about that...but I didn't see anybody looking like they needed to be dabbed, either.

The bottom line is, they weren't supposed to bring ANYTHING with them - to prevent just this sort of thing.

This lying bastard (sorry - I try not to do that, but I am extraordinarily ANGRY) cheated. I'm convinced of it. He was TOO slick to have pulled this off on his own. A guy who can't get "Lambeau Field" right does not rattle off numbers the way he did without having them in front of him.

I watched several of the videos and checked out the still frames. I couldn't tell. Need someone to blow it up and clean it up to be sure.

Definitely, he took something out of his suit coat pocket!

Cheat sheet? Probably -- don't think it would have been his birth certificate or his visa.

But the point is, now with the Internet (FR, bloggers, Drudge...) Talk-radio and FoxNews, Bush doesn't have to make it an issue. The Swiftvets and Rathergate proved that the "alternate media" CAN DO IT - even if the MSM spikes it.

KEEP FREEPING IT!

Of course the 'rats are going to say we're poor losers, expect that, the point is, this is video, you stop it, enlarge it, clear up the picture, etc., and it is what it is--nothing to be brought to the podium. Kerry is on enough shakey ground relative to his "truth", and this is very important to pursue, especially since Lehrer is looking right at Kerry while he is fumbling with his paper! That needs to be brought to attention just as much as the actual paper.

When pressed on the fact that even brandishing a pen from his jacket would have violated debate rules, the Kerry staffer laughed, adding, "see you at the inauguration, Drudge".

It speaks to President Bush's dignity and sportsmanship that he didn't say anything about this.

Meant to ping you over: When pressed on the fact that even brandishing a pen from his jacket would have violated debate rules, the Kerry staffer laughed, adding, "see you at the inauguration, Drudge".

Add to the initial news post please.

Or the green card that he got when he immigrated here from France.

From watching it on VCR, I'll have to agree with crazieman that he took piece of paper out ,then unfolded it ,then uncapped pen.

"The next debates MUST have tight zooms on the Candidates from many angles if they aren't allowed to bring notes."

Or just tie Kerry's hands behind his back until he gets to the podium and starts talking.

The thing is, it does not matter even if the paper was blank.

It was STILL a violation of the rules to bring any paper.

I taped the debate and Kerry slickly took something from his pocket. It is absolutely clear that after he waved to the audience and as he was turning his back to the audience to take his place behind the podium, he slipped his hand inside his breast pocket and smoothly (and practiced) took something out and placed it on his podium.

It was really slick. What he didn't expect was a camera behind him that caught him with his back to the crowd and taking something from his pocket. IT IS ABSOLUTELY CLEAR FOR ALL TO SEE.

The Prez gave the last statement at the end of the debate and the camera (FOX) was off Kerry, so I couldn't see what he did with the paper at the end.

As I recall, before the debate, there was talk about the Kerry Kamp being unhappy with the agreed to rules, particularly, the timimg lights. There was talk of the lights being forcibly removed. They apparently couldn't get away with that, but they were determined to cheat somehow just out of spite. Hence, Kerry's notes.
