From another Freeper who just watched Fox...

I just saw "the act" on Fox a moment ago and it didn't look like a piece of paper to me. It looked like a stack of 3x5 cards.

I just looked at the clip again on Drudge. It seems like Bush may have thrown off Kerry's timing by walking so far over to his side of the floor to shake his hand. This unexpected move cut down the amount of time Kerry would have to walk away with his back to the audience. He tried to make up for the seconds he lost by prolonging the handhsake.

QUESTION:

"Are candidates never allowed to have notes in a debate or was it just for this debate?"

ANSWER: I believe both candidates agreed to the no notes idea for this particular series of debates. I am not positive though.

The thing we Bush supporters need to understand..."Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups". And there are a lot of dems.

We thought, while we were watching, that Kerry seemed to have some pat answers ready to whatever Bush said, and Kerry is not one who generally has pat, concise answers, being the 'orator' that he is claimed to be (barf). If not 'cheat sheets', then probably some tip-off to the question specifics and practice on how to answer Bush concisely on the criticisms Bush would have of Kerry and his flip-flops. Some of that might be due to prep work, but some of it just seemed too coincidental.

Yes, there were to be no notes or anything at all. If you wanted to take notes during the debate paper and pen would be provided, but you were not allowed to even place your own pen on the podium, they would do it for you.

Let's see , John Kerry, Americans are not interested in passing any Global Test , and well....now we hear...

Iran on Sunday rejected a proposal by U.S. presidential candidate John Kerry who has suggested supplying the Islamic state with nuclear fuel for power reactors if Tehran agrees to give up its own fuel-making capability. Foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said it would be "irrational" for Iran to put its nuclear program in jeopardy by relying on supplies from abroad. http://www.iranian.ws/iran_news/publish/article_3992.shtml

Maybe John Kerry , you can get Iran to go along with a Global test with your uraniun plans for their country? SNICKERS

Actually, after watching that, I think the "paper" may just be Kerry's hand, which looks squarer on lower-res video. The illegal object might be a pen.

Still, he has to be asked what the object was, and why he didn't think he had to obey the rules.

There are two, entirely different reasons why this is important. In the larger scheme of things this is minor, except for the point made by other Freepers that if he would cheat in a mere debate, would he cheat at President of the United States.

The other point is a correlary, but quite important. Once again, FR and the blogosphere have caught a real event that happened right in front of the MSM. They missed it. We found it and stuck it in their nose. Probably, this second reason is more important than the first.

I think it is a distraction and I think it's petty.
If it had been brought up the day after the debates, that would be different. Since it is four days after the debate, it makes us look like we are reaching. It isn't timely, and the fact that there are two more debates this week alone, it doesn't have legs.
IMHO.
