XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

The clip I saw just showed his hand in his jacket pocket and making a turn to the podium.

'A lot of organizations were shooting this event. I'm sure someone has high-res archive stock somewhere.'

actually, fox was providning the feed, so they all have video from all the fox cameras...I noticed that the different cable stations were using different techniques...some had more side-by-side than others...

I disagree.

Kerry missed most of those committee hearings, etc.

How did he have so much information on the tip of his tongue about so many subject?

Someone leaked him the talking points. There were threads about this the night of the debate.

According to another poster, aides to both candidates came up and cleared off their respective lecterns after the debate.

I think this could be a HUGE issue, "Kerry Cheated", but its going to need traction in the media...

Also, it might be MORE than just bringing his own notes to the podium... What if it included a list of all the questions that were going to come up... That would imply...

"When pressed on the fact that even brandishing a pen from his jacket would have violated debate rules, the Kerry staffer laughed, adding, "see you at the inauguration, Drudge".

This Kerry staffer is going to come to the Bush inauguration? How nice of him to show bipartisanship.

I hated having that man anywhere near my President.

I'm just thanking the Lord right now that the fool was caught cheating on tape.

Nothing new. DemocRATs cheat, almost all of them, plain and simple. They cheat on tests, they cheat on their wives, they cheat at the polls. Same ol' same ol'.

What would a democRAT be without cheating?

A Republican.

Drango says "What a non issue...."

In politics you rarely score a KO blow. You beat him with a 1000 cuts and body blows. Kerry pulled something out, which was against the rules. If they were notes, that will hurt him indeed.

QUESTION:

Are candidates never allowed to have notes in a debate or was it just for this debate?
