Our worst ex-president, who turns 80 today, relishes role as America-basher
Congratulations to former President Jimmy Carter, who turns 80 years old on Friday, proving that age does not always bring wisdom and maturity. Ever since being booted from office in a landslide 24 years ago, Carter has been bent on exacting revenge on the ungrateful American electorate by playing to the cheap seats overseas, where he instinctively sides with anti-American sentiment and coddles the most vile dictators and human rights abusers on the planet. It is not an accident that Carter's popularity overseas is highest in the nations that hate the United States the most.
Think I exaggerate? Just keep in mind, to pick only one example, his hugs for North Korea's Kim Il Sung 10 years ago. Carter compared Kim Il Sung, the last Stalinist-era dictator with the blood of 3 million North Koreans on his hands, according to human rights groups, to George Washington and Patrick Henry. When North Korea admitted last year that it had proudly violated the 1994 agreement to end its nuclear weapons program, Carter took to the pages of the New York Times to declare that it was our fault.
This week, Carter warned in the Washington Post against election fraud in Florida on Nov. 2. It takes a load of chutzpah for a Democrat, the party of perennial voting chicanery in Chicago, Philadelphia, St. Louis and elsewhere, to protest about election fraud, but Carter has long shown himself immune to the ordinary shame of hypocrisy.

The point the author makes comparing Kerry to Carter is right on. Want to know what a Kerry presidency will look like? Go back to 1979 and you'll see. Inflation, unemployement, Islamic extremists running rampant, apathy, lack of focus and the country in a shambles emotionaly.

Let me tell you something about Jimmy Carter, I live in Georgia, not too far from Americus or Plains, GA which is Jimmy Carters back yard. It's called Sumter County and the place is a pit.
It is poor, it is destitute, it's on the verge of a race war, the local paper reads like a crime sheet. In short, its a national disgrace. I want to know why no national newspaper has gone down and covered "Americus" Georgia and Plains and Sumter County. I want to know where this guy gets the unmitigated GALL to go all over the world to tell the rest of us how to live, when his own back yard is such a disgusting mess and I WANT TO KNOW WHY NO NATIONAL MEDIA HAS EVER CHECKED THIS GUY OUT?
Texas is gone over with a fine tooth comb. If some blogger wants to do good, go down to Americus, Georgia. Go ask the locals what they think about Rosalyn, Chip, "Habitat for Humanity" and they will find under that rock a can of worms that is so ugly it will make your head spin.
Someone needs to go down to Plains and take a look at the race relations down there, the medevil racist institutions that are still so firmly in place and the economy so shitty that the hometown paper doesnt even have a help wanted in it's classified.
Jimmy Carter is a national embarassment as well a flake. How come nobody has exposed this fraud? Someone needs to kick him off his Global podium and hoist him up good and fast on his own petard. Someone needs to expose the light of truth on this huckster should shut him up as fast and as diligently as is humanly possible.
It's no wonder he galivants over the globe if you had to spent 10 minutes in "Plains", the house the "Jimmy" built, you'd get the hell out, too. It is just sad.

The foreign policy under a Kerry presidency could actually be a greater disaster than those of President Carter and President Clinton, as execrable as that pair were.
Fortunately, Senator Kerry has so far ran a disastrous campaign, and his statements in the foreign policy debate were so far off the reservation (giving the Iranians nuclear materials, going back to the Clinton/Carter "strategy" with North Korea, threatening to block even more weapons systems development and deployment) that replays from this debate appearance will have a deservedly negative effect on his campaign with all except the most ardently ultraliberal of his base.
If I could pass one idea to the national campaign, I would suggest interspersing the classic "spitballs" line from Senator Miller's magnificent speech with 3 or 4 clips from Senator Kerry's "I will cut PROGRAM" lines.
Of course, with such a target-rich environment as Senator Kerry's conflicting statements, we have an embarrassment of riches to go after...

Hello, I'm new here and couldn't agree more with what you wrote! John Kerry would be Carter + Clinton if he were president. You've heard the lefties (such as Kerry) complaints about the Saudi Royal family...
Well, I see a distinct parallel with Carter's failure to support the Shah of Iran which led to the Islamic Revelution of February 1979. We went from having a strategic ally in the gulf region with a not-so-great ruler to a sworn enemy with devils as rulers!
I fear the same with Saudi Arabia if someone like Kerry gets in.

Carter is clearly partially inbred or retarded. Hell, for proof, look at his jaw or chin. He doesn't have a chin. And his eyes are very close together. Dumbass.

It was said of Mussolini that at least "he made the trains run on time." And so it is said of GA Jimmy: "at least is a good ex-president." But, is he?

Does anyone even listen to what this man has to say anymore?

No, Theodore he is NOT a good ex-president, he's a national embarassment politicking to be a replacement for Jesus. (I swear this is his goal.)
Further, someone should remind this jackass that charity begins at home. His "hometown" is so dirt poor, so backwards, so pathetic if his beloved UN or Amnesty International had the guts to go down there they would cite them for human and civil rights violations left and right. But they dont have the guts. They dont EMBARASS America bashing clowns.
I also cant tell you how many pie eyed, idealistic young people have left their far away homes to work for "Jimmy's" Habitat for Humanity only to leave disillusioned, screwed and broke. The last conversation I had with someone had to do with what it's like to work for Roselyn. It was NOT a pretty story. Since I'm not into spreading hearsay I wont repeat the story but this is a family living in the midst of a slum, getting rich off of bashing America, running a non profit organization that from what I can discern helps nobody but themselves and various other phonies who get to pose with the Carters and those new homes for po' folk who eventually end up in foreclosure.
I dont have the numbers on Habitat for Humanity but I'd sure like to see them. The information that I give is anecdotal. I can surmise they have done some people some good but I can also do the math and I dont know how you build a home for someone who cannot afford it, walk away then expect them to keep up the mortgage and upkeep after the photogs and photo ops have all gone away.
Jimmy Carter needs to be stopped and in my opinion if Sumter County is "Jimmy's" family all you have to do is take a snapshot to see how ineffectual he and his policies are, and how great his generosity and idealism extends.
I was tryin to find a link to the local on line newspaper so you could all see for yourself but, guess what, they are too poor to even have an on line presense! If they did have a link you could see what goes on down there. Nothing but crime, oh yeah, and (I assume) the tourism that comes from the Great Jimmy Carter Presidential Library (if there is any money that comes in from that which I doubt, it's probably paid for by the state.) Also down there is Andersonville which is the Nazi-like Concentration camp reserved for Northerners during the Civil War. Sumter County, from what I can see, is really the last great bastion of racism and confederate bigotry that is left in the South and THIS is Jimmy Carter's legacy.
The fact that he galavants all over the globe telling OTHERS how to live, telling OTHERS how to heal race relations, "apartheid", segregation and poverty is the ULTIMATE disgusting joke. It is all alive and well in Sumter County. I just cant understand why no one has gone down there and shone the spotlight on Jimmy Carters true legacy: his own backyard.

Between Carter, Clinton and now sKerry the people who vote in the Democratic party scare the holy you know what out of me. Carter is an out-and-out Communist and the only thing that saved us from Clinton's Communist-leanings was a second term Republican Senate and Congress.

Steven F. Hayward is the author of
The Real Jimmy Carter: How Our Worst Ex-President Undermines American Foreign Policy, Coddles Dictators, and Created the Party of Clinton and Kerry, published by Regnery (who else?) earlier this year...an excellent read and very informative even for those who lived through the Carter years.
Hayward is particularly good on the disasters of Carter's foreign policy and on Carter's nastiness during his re-election effort of 1980 (that chapter is entitled "Reelect President Vicious").
