I'd like to see one more poll that isn't Ras or IBD/CSM or Newsweak.. Preferably Time Mag or NBC/WSJ

I talked to so many people that were disappointed with his debate performance.

So what? Everbody we know thought Bush did well. Everybody at my husband's work thought Bush won and they don't read FR and it was before I told my husband about the dem enabling handwringing going on here. He laughed about the sky is falling reaction.

The Newsweek poll was weighted and conducted in Kerry's favor and today being Sunday and releasing it today is not the usual manner of Gallup, so I don't trust these numbers either.

Exactly. Since when is a Gallup poll released on a Sunday?

I think that this is good news if it's true. Consider that this is Kerry's high water mark after his strongest day. He can only go down hill from here.

Nothing on websites for CNN, Gallup, USAToday, (and they all allegedly sponsored the poll) or on Drudge... or even on AP Breaking News.

Hard to believe this isn't a lead item somewhere.

This polling was done so close to the debate that I am not willing to say the electorate has permanently shifted and brought this race to even. Rasmussen is showing almost no move in Kerry's direction. And that is with weighting the poll in favor of the dims. If the race had changed by 8 points I think he would have noticed something. Now the question is whether the reporting of these polls will by virtue of themselves give Kerry ACTUAL momentum. I for one think it will be short lived. Bush needs to fight back hard though.

I am not sure, but RCP still has 291-200. In fact it says Bush +7 in OH.

RCP doesn't have a link to the actual poll or to CNN. It's just the headline. Maybe they got it from FR!

Ok, and have you seen the new USA Today poll? What would be the reasoning behind that one?

You might have been right (or, is it correct, as it is doubtful you are RIGHT, at least politically) except Kerry was caught on tape. And since it is on tape, it will appear in ads. Try these on: "Since Senator Kerry cheated in the debate, what else will he cheat on." Or, "Since Senator Kerry can't be counted on to play by the rules in a debate, where can we count on him to play by the rules." Each voice over accompanied by the tape of the good senator reaching into his jacket and taking out his crib sheets, and a stringer quoting the ground rules of the debate that he violated.
