RANGEL'S RIGHTFUL HUMILIATION (About Dems proposing reinstating the draft and the House voting no)
The New York Post ^ | October 7, 2004

Posted on 10/7/2004, 2:49:55 PM by The Loan Arranger

Not that it's likely to stop the Democrats from spreading rumors to the contrary, but the House of Representatives — by an overwhelming bipartisan vote — has put the lie to any claim that the military draft is coming back.

The House, voting 402-2, rejected Rep. Charles Rangel's bill to reinstate the draft, which was suspended in 1973. The legislation would have required all men and women ages 18 to 26 to perform two years of military or civilian service.

This was a disgusting ploy. Copies of this should be passed out on every campus in the US.

It is only humiliating if the person being humiliated notices. Old Charlie does not give a damn.

Have there been any editorials in the MSM criticizing the Dems who voted against their own law? If Reps did that, it would be called irresponsible, cynical, a corruption of the political process, etc.

Plain and simple: The only person in Washington who wants to see the draft restored is Charlie Rangel.

He probably sees it as an involuntary welfare program for his constituents.

But not enough actually to vote for his own bill.

Now who "prostitutes" the legislative process, Charlie?

Hypocrite.

Oh, yeah. But what would you expect from a dimlib?

Why doesn't Bush do an ad attacking the Dems for trying to bring back the draft? Turnabout is fair play.

And, it would have the added advantage of being true.

The healine should be:

Rangel walks aways from his own bill.

John Murtha of Pennsylvania (who?) was the other yes vote.

Get this: Rock the Vote, which has made the draft one of its two major "selling points" to "the youth," has decided to react by calling the vote phony and redoubling its efforts to mislead and scare on the issue. Then they link to a number of "myth-busting" sites to show that the draft is practically certain if Bush is reelected.

Doesn't matter there is still emails floating through Cyber space continuing to spread rumors of a pending draft starting in December. It says republicans in congress are all for it. Claims this is in the works and has been since 2002. I've connected several folks to tell me what they thought of the recent email...they've told me it's a bunch of crap....but these weird thinking folks are still believing it. These are the 'TIN FOIL HAT' folks

Brit Hume covered this last night on Special Report on Fox. He introduced it along the lines of, "How many times do you have to kill a rumor before it's dead?"

Of course, this is a week or so after CBS runs a story on the draft and puts up a screenshot of one of the draft rumor e-mails.

This was a revolting fraud. A rat proposes reinstating the draft and then the entire rat party says that Bush is the one planning to do it.
