John Kerry can tell if you make more than $200k a year, just by LOOKING at you!

Posted on 10/09/2004 6:57:32 AM PDT by JohnRand

Kerry: "...And looking around here, at this group here, I suspect there are only three people here who are going to be affected: the president, me, and, Charlie, I'm sorry, you too."

Kerry speaking in last evening's debate about his plan to raise taxes on people making 200k+ annually. So now John Kerry is prejudging people by just looking at them to determine their income?!? He decided that the only people in the room that qualified as his new tax-hike victims were himself, Bush and Charlie Gibson! Wow, a big criticism many liberals have of Bush is his supposed "arrogance", there was simply nothing more arrogant and ignorant than that statement that Kerry made and it will probably haunt his campaign...

And not only noting it (which is snobbish enough!) but commenting on it to their faces (which is incredibly rude!). He's the kind of person who gives the nouveau riche a bad name.

I thought kerry made sinawhore wages which means he does not make 200,000 and I think the P is just under that number but I am not sure.

He should really be ripped for this remark. His wife makes it. He does not.

He sounded like an elitist snub by insulting the audience like that

I suppose he's been doing it all his life. I wonder if he's ever accidentally proposed to a rich widower.

"And does Kerry's $200,000 refer to husband and wife filing jointly, or for individual income?"

Does KERRY earn over $200k for his "no-show" Senate job? I don't think so! Where would HE be on the income distribution curve without Tear-E-suh???

This elitist comment was a huge blunder by F'n! I'm sure there were more than a few people in the audience making more than 200k. Another mistake was his admitting he was a lawyer like the Breck girl. Most people don't think too highly of lawyers. And admitting he will roll back (INCREASE) taxes on the "rich".

W had some minor word stumbles like internets and reversing F'n's 87b comment, but he kicked Kerry around the stage all night.

Can we get MAXIMUM Kerry TV coverage for the next 22 days?

If a reality show followed the two candidates around in their daily life for a month, I am not sure Kerry would get more than 10 votes.

what if you make say $150,000 and expect a raise over the next few years?

This is the whole entire lie of the democratic drive to induce class envy. The folks most of us shoudl be jealous of are ourselves.

Economists contribute to this by their own shallow statistics. Consider two single school teacher starting at age 24. Their household income will start at $23,000 per year or some such. Years later, they get married, have kids, rise through the ranks of the schools system and at age 55 are administrators with a household income of $145,000 per year or some such. [not counting their considerable vested pension benefits].

The entire f'in middle class starts off young at low salaries and progressess through age and ranks up the income ladder. The more meaningful statistic would be where people stand on a plot of household income of a family of 4 vs their age.

People who make lifestyle choices to work seasonally, or who chose to remain single or involved in other domestic "arrangments" I don't think are so relevant for societal purposes, but fall into the statistics.

Your 35 year old socialist perpetual graduate student with a stipend of $12,000 per year does not belong in the statics pile, no matter how much noise he contributes to the DNC.

Kerry is all Lies...I am imploring every voter to look at his senate record and see how he voted and what he stands for before they make the irrevocable mistake of casting their vote for him. He will derail the military, he will remove us from Iraq and then he will claim it a Bush failure , he will weaken Homeland Security in the name of the ACLU and lay our country bare to attack. At that point it will be too late and we will suffer a greater conflagration than 911 and Pearl Harbor combined. Of course this next conflagration will be blamed on Bush and there will be no or limited response because there is no coalition strong enough that could be built to satisfy his need ... Proof his vote against the Gulf War which had the largest coalition in recent history. Nothing no action no matter how bad against the US would ever pass his global test and these irrevocable mistakes will lead to the end of the US as we know it...Be very afraid of this man.

I have spent the last hour emailing my outrage about Kerry's $200,000 comment. I am incensed. How dare he assume that no one in the audience could make $200,000 - that's $200,000 per couple, married filing jointly by the way! This comment is very telling. Senator Kerry thinks that we are all uneducated, uninformed serfs who are being exploited by evil big companies. If he can promise a $7 per hour "living wage" and free healthcare, we'll continue to stay dumb and happy while he makes nice with the French and Germans. I want government to get out of my way. We live in a wonderful country - I just hope it stays that way.

I think he was right in his assessment of the group. The audience was undecided, but if you make over 200k, you already know who you are going to vote for.

Ha ha! Brilliant!

Good question. My take is it's all illusion. Kerry wants all of us making minimum wage while the elites "rule" us all. I can not be more firm - WE NEED A BUSH WIN!

notice the MSN didnt seem to think its worth mentioning?

They are too busy with the screen captures of Bush's facial reactions to actually pay attention to how Kerry insults the voters

"John Kerry can tell if you make more than $200k a year, just by LOOKING at you!"

Might I suggest it's not by LOOKING - it's by smelling. Kerry can SMELL money from a mile away.

He thinks the military is over extended and suffering a back door draft. He'll fix it by bringing in 40,000 new troops.

I too was wondering where he will get these new troops. Does he seriously think there are 40,000 people waiting to enlist, because they will only join the military if Kerry is the commander in chief? Right....

With a two income household especially for a older professional couple it is certainly more then possible.

I know several.
