A paroled sex offender pleaded not guilty Tuesday to 11 charges involving sexual assaults and other crimes against five teenage boys in the South Bay.
Torrance Superior Court Judge Thomas R. Sokolov ordered that James Marcus Russell, 23, remain held in county jail on $5 million bail and that he return to court Oct. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
Russell was arrested Aug. 17 and charged Friday with the crimes, which include a July 11 incident in which he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted two boys as they skateboarded near the Metro Green Line station in Redondo Beach.
Russell was linked to the crime through DNA found on the boys’ clothing. Russell’s DNA is included in a law enforcement database because of a previous sodomy conviction.
Other crimes include a July 26 incident in which Russell allegedly knocked a 19-year-old off his scooter and forced him into a car in Harbor Gateway. Russell allegedly touched the boy and then stole his eyeglasses and wallet.
He is also accused of two crimes on Aug. 12: one in which he allegedly robbed a boy who he forced into his car in San Pedro, but the boy got away, and another in Lennox where he orally copulated a 17-year-old before forcing him to do the same to him.

Let me or little jeremiah know if you want on or off the homosexual agenda ping list.
If convicted he should never see the outside of a prison again. I can't help but wonder how much Russell has messed up the boys he molested.
A 19 year old boy? He is old enough to be fighting in Iraq.
I was thinking along the same lines - he's an adult so why refer to him as a boy. The only other age listed is 17 but other boys he assaulted are mentioned without their age.
It may sound harsh, but such subhumans should face execution. Sexual violation - especially homosexual, especially when the victims are teenagers or children - deserves the death penalty. And not after 20 years of appeals.
It will act as a deterrant and a cure.
Yes I agree. Heterosexual is just as bad, in my opinion, as they tend to be men preying on girls. People who do that should die.
That doesn't sound harsh - it sounds like justice. A repeat offender with multiple victims... no, it sounds like justice. Growing up I was 100% for the death penalty, but then I was found guilty for a crime I didn't commit. So when there isn't absolute proof I tend towards life behind bars... just in case.
Hmmmm...scanning...scanning...
Nope.
Not a single mention of "homosexual" in the entire article.
Odd, that.
Indeed. Perhaps they've taken lessons from The Homosexual Propaganda and Media Manipulation Game....
"Russell was linked to the crime through DNA found on the boys’ clothing. Russell’s DNA is included in a law enforcement database because of a previous sodomy conviction."
It is surprising that the NY Slimes or the AP hasn't hired him to be one of their maggot reporters writing hit articles about GW.
Much research has shown that roughly one third of all child/youth molesting is same sex. Since homosexuals are only about 2% of the population, they're a lot busier in the field.
But all child molesters should be executed. It's the humane way to deal with them.
Those who have been on the wrong side of the law through no fault of their own see another angle on the "justice" system. I have a friend who was accused of - and pretty much forced to plea bargain - to a crime she did not commit. Had to do a few months time, now branded a felon.
Such things happen, probably more often than most people imagine. And meanwhile, those who really are deserving of the harshest punishment often walk free on the streets.
I know it's easy to say if you haven't been there but I would never plead guilty if I was innocent. I am strong willed though, not everyone is.
This young woman had a young son and a child on the way. She didn't want to risk hard time and lose her children. She and her husband were poor and had other black marks such as a few bad relatives.
I didn't want to her to plead, but I was away from the situation by then and could only advise from a distance.
