Fox News Watch--What did they just say about Carl Cameron?
Fox News Watch

Posted on 10/09/2004 4:12:19 PM PDT by spitlana

I looked for a thread on Fox News Watch, and didn't find one. Was anyone watching? At the end of the show, they mentioned Carl Cameron being accused by the Kerry campaign of being biased. Something about inadvertantly posting an email on his website regarding Kerry's manicure prior to the first debate. I may not have heard it right--does anyone know anything about this?

It had to do with the "joke" memo he wrote while tired and/ore bored, and accidentally posted on line earlier in the week. Fox pulled it right away and issued an appology to the Kerry campaign. I was surprised to find Campaign Carl still with the team after that. I thought it was posted here earlier in the week, must have been on Drudge.

Fabricated Kerry Posting Leads to Apology from Fox News

The New York Times ^ | Oct. 3, 2004 | Eric Lichblau
WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 - Plenty of news media analysts thought Senator John Kerry looked good at Thursday night's presidential debate, but Fox News went a step further, posting a made-up news article on its Web site that quoted Mr. Kerry as gloating about his fine manicure and his "metrosexual" appearance. Fox News quickly retracted the article, saying in an editor's note on its Web site that the article "was written in jest and should not have been posted or broadcast.'' It said, "We regret the error, which occurred because of fatigue and bad judgment, not malice."

There's a thread here

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1237642/posts

about what Carl did. A tempest in a teapot, but it's got the dems all worked up.

I didn't hear that. Watch Fox news move even further left.

If only we had a conservative network to watch. As much as I like Brit Hume, I'd turn channels, and never look back.

Rush, are you listening?

Fox still has him under review for the incident, which may result in his dismissal.

Cameron wrote a fake article which was accidently published for a brief time on the FOX News website claiming that Kerry was a "metrosexual" and more concerned about his manicure then the debate....

Shocking. Someone is biased, and NOT to the left...

The Kerry campaign can just walk it off. It isn't like Kerry will be hurt by it.

Or WILL he? I personally find it stupid in the extreme when a grown man gets a manicure before a debate. Or anytime.

the thing about what Carl did was a joke and you could clearly read it as a joke.....it had NOTHING to do with "FIXING" a campaign like CBS and ABC.....the freakin NERVE of ABC....I havent heard hardly anything at all about that today and CBS is going to get a pass, they are back up in ratings and such.....its disgusting and discouraging too

I have gotten to the point where I can no longer watch Fox News Watch. It's that Neil Gaybler Gobbler. I'm afraid of what I might do to my TV someday. They seriously need someone on that show who would slap that punk...

yep, that's why we see evidence this week looking like FoxNews is covering the Kerry Campaign more than the Bush Campaign ... I think FNC is trying to save face and trying to get back to the "middle" as quickly and as quietly as possible. As much as I regret Carl Cameron's "joke" memo, it still is nothing compared to what Dan Rather/CBS News has done, and now with the ABC/Halperin Memo-gate erupting, Cameron's joke seems pretty insignificant.

A tempest in a teapot, but it's got the dems all worked up.

Something silly like this will never die, but Dan Rather can continue to tout pathetic forgeries as absolutely true, and nothing ever will happen to him.

My email to Fox news on this weeks Fox News Watch on this subject:

Neal Gabler just got on his high horse to denounce Carl Cameron over the Kerry joke script that a clueless web admin mistakenly posted as if it were real. Neal is offended that Carl Cameron is still on the air and covering the Kerry campaign. He won't even mention the vile things Cameorn said, which was to insert supposed "quotes from Kerry" such as "isn't my manicure nice?."

Well, Neal, I've got a shocking fact for you. Dan Rather is still hosting the CBS Nightly News, reporting on the Bush Administration and Mary Mapes is still producing drivel for Sixty Minutes.

Oh, and Neal Gabler is still vomiting up his hatred and insane rhetoric for Fox News.

go figure

I am heart sick over FOX turning to the dark side...:(
I've been a faithful viewer since it come on the air and sad to say I've don't watch FOX as regularly as I used too. Lots of my FOX friends are being turned off too! If Fox doesn't shape up and get with it, I think MSnbc is slowly beginning to realize FOX has dropped the ball and I'm willing to give MSnbc a shot...SORRY FOX but you are becoming UNBEARABLE to watch! BTW, which reporter is assigned to travel with the Bush campaign? As far as I know, no one!! Little by little FOX is losing viewership...I'm one of them...:(

Guys, if you think Fox News is drifting to the left, maybe you should come down a section or two from the upper deck of the right field bleachers.

But don't quit fighting for the good guys.

So does this mean that Kerry ISN'T a metrosexual and that he DIDN'T get a manicure?

I think it's Jim Angle (Engle?) - he's the WH correspondent on FOX.

Not quite the same thing as forging documents for a 60 minutes story.

I thought the same thing--Fox is being extra careful after being "perceived" to mock Kerry. This does somewhat explain their leaning away from saying anything nice about Bush past few days. Maybe they were taken to the WOODshed by the higher ups.
