Terrorism = Illegal Gambling? (Who Else but Kerry)
New York Times ^ | October 10, 2004 | Matt Bai

Posted on 10/10/2004 1:44:44 PM PDT by PhiKapMom

In an interview with Matt Bai published in today’s New York Times Magazine, Kerry made a very, very, very significant statement about how he would fight the war on terror. Kerry compared the war on terrorism with eradicating prostitution or illegal gambling.

''We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance,'' Kerry said. ''As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life.''

Terrorism, a nuisance?

This is the latest in a series of statements where Kerry views the war on terror more as a law enforcement operation than as a war. The article also has some other revealing tidbits about how Kerry’s closest advisers don’t believe we are in a war, and Kerry’s lack of a clear vision.

Terrorism, a nuisance?

I wonder how the family members of those who lost their lives on 9/11 feel about this.

''We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance,'' Kerry said.

Kerry has frequently said "I have a plan" with very little elaboration. Now it becomes clear waht he had in mind :
A pre 9/11 time machine.

How brilliant.

And he accuses Dubya of living in a fantasy world?

As with fascism, communism and totalitarianism in general, appeasement is not a viable alternative when it comes to terrorism. The US has been under attack from Islamic terrorists for the last 25 years. The 1990`s was a decade that contained some of the worst terrorist attacks in history. From the first WTC bombing, to the Khobar Towers, to the 1998 embassy bombings in Rwandi and finally to the attack on the USS Cole.

John Kerry's agenda is right out of the liberal playbook of the Democratic Party. It is a dangerous policy that would give the terrorists new found hope on expanding their international operations.

Terrorism should never be handled as a law enforcement operation first and foremost. Diplomacy with these Islamic terrorists is out of the question. If Kerry was elected, that's exactly what would happen.

The WoT is a military operation, first and foremost. President Bush made the right decision to invade Iraq. Iraq is the frontline in the WoT and we must win.

Last I heard, being/visiting a prostitute and going to a gambling establishment were voluntary.

As far as I know, the 3,000+ killed on 9/11 and the people killed before and since in terrorist attacks didn't volunteer to be killed.

Correction. The 1998 embassy bombings were in Kenya, Tanzania and Nairobi.

these comments shocked me

He'll just say he was inarticulate in his statement on terrorism, just like he told Diane Sawyers about his "$87 billion dollar statement".

The Jersey Girls probably sent another check in to his campaign headquarters.

This is the first time Kerry's position has been laid out so clearly for me. Given that I knew little about his position before reading the article, I think it was a fair piece by the NYT.

After reading it carefully I understand why JFK is so reluctant to clarify his position on terror. At best it's naive and laughable. It's the French position without the benefit of bribe money from the Oil for Castles Program.

The fact that Kerry's polling over 25% is troubling. That he's a viable Presidential contender is extremly dangerous for America.

Yeah this "War on Terror" should be about as successful as the "war on drugs" and the "war on poverty."

It's so obvious that all we have to do is decriminalize terror. That will push the evil-doers out of the terror business, just like legalizing liquor broke the back of organized crime.

I am with you on this article -- if this ever made it to all the voters, he would be total history. I don't see how anyone that thinks could vote for Kerry. I was astounded as I read the article as his total arrogance.

Kerry's vision of making terrorists into Nusiances is a nightmare for any sane American with a memory of 9/11.

"He truely is UNFIT to head this nation. We really do know who he is."

This comment by moi Kerri shows the contempt that he has for Americans and America.

I'm still reeling from his attitude toward terrorism....a nuisance. Regardless of his 4 months and 12 days in Vietnam, he hasn't learned a thing about WAR. It simply has not gotten through his helmet-haired head that terrorists want to kill us.

If one on his and Terayyyza's mansions gets razed w/a terrorist bomb, there will be "hell to pay".

The 2 of them couldn't even put up w/a fire hydrant in front of ONE of their mansions, so they had it removed soas to make themselves another parking space. The hell w/fire protection for the neighbors. 'Guess that hydrant was a nuisance too. They are not to be annoyed, you understand. HA

He's going to be VERY annoyed to see his life-long ambition to be President go down the drain.

WE also have a PLAN!

There's also a "Newsweek" article, posted about half way through last week (I'm posting on 10/11), about a major Kerry donor being on the take with Saddam's oil for food scam to the tune of about 22 million $$. In addition, just before Bill Clinton went under the knife he gave Kerry a 45 minute "confidential" lecture on proper campaigning, which Clinton's shills promptly leaked to the press.

None of this derogatory material about Kerry would have been printed in the liberal DemonRat press without the Clintons' approval. The NYT article would have simply ignored the "nuisance" quote the way the NYT ignored the Swiftvets unless NYT management had received the word to release it. The Clintons have switched their phasers from stun to kill and are firing them at the heart of the Kerry campaign. If this doesn't work, they'll probably leak his complete military files abot a week before the election.

"I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling."

''We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance,'' Kerry said.

As a former law-enforcement person, will send in Miami Vice and try to control those terrorist which are a nuisance.

Tune in Friday's at 9:00 PM
