Halliburton Iraq oil deal investigated

WASHINGTON A House subcommittee investigating Iraq's oil-for-food program expanded its probe to the Bush administration Tuesday, agreeing to subpoena documents on U.S. postwar management of oil revenues and, if necessary, audits on contracts for reconstruction projects, including one given to Halliburton Co.
Democrats on the House Government Reform subcommittee on national security said there should be a full investigation of the Bush administration's refusal to release audits of Halliburton's $1.5 billion noncompetitive contract to repair oil production facilities. The Houston-based oil services company was headed by Dick Cheney before he became vice president.
Failure to release the information, said Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), would appear hypocritical and arrogant and "reinforce the image that our primary goal was to seize control of the oil."
Congress, said Democrats, needs to know what happened to oil revenues when the United States took over their management between May 2003 and June 2004. Since then, management has been turned over to the interim Iraqi government.
Bye - Bye
Rep. Henry Waxman is a Marxist clymer. And you are still banned.

I doubt very much that the public is wringing their hands over Haliburton, going to sleep at night anguishing about it, etc etc etc. As for myself, I could care less. You'd like this to be on the scale of Enron, but I'll bet you $1000 that won't happen. You can PayPal me the money after the election's over.
Then, we'll just keep on banning you. It's really easy to distinguish junk from real news.
Lotsa trolls getting Zotted tonight...
Nice tagline! If we could somehow bring their mooon rock to the moon and leave it there, it would drive them nuts. I doubt if they got the technology.
In a related action, Mr. Waxman spearheaded an effort to publish the truth of the U.N. Oil for Food scandal, which dwarfs any misdeeds by Haliburton....
hehe, we are frightened, hehe. Must be hell being you, beating your head against a brick wall while we laugh. Come back on Nov 3rd and give us an even bigger laugh.
If you could at least successfully debate a topic, you might not get zotted.

I just read the article. A couple of Halliburton subsidiaries sold sewage pumps and other parts through a UN program to Iraq in sales monitored and approved by the Clinton Administration. One sale was not approved by the Clinton Administration and was not made. That's the whole article, other than the author's line about how they "skirted U.S. laws" a charge about which he does not even give one example let alone proof.
He cleverly (well cleverly enough to fool idiots) phrases things to make it look like Halliburton did something illegal, because there were people who did illegal things in conjunction with the same UN program, but nowhere does he prove his assertions against Halliburton.

Cross link to another.
Guess that would depend upon your definition of the word "love."
I have a dandy idea: perhaps they should investigate government fraud, waste, and abuse with the same enthusiasm. Then you might be able to argue that they're actually doing something constructive.
Magic Lib Mantras:
WATERGATE! - oooooooooooooh!
IRAN-CONTRA - oooooooooooooh!
HALLIBURTON - oooooooooooooh!
"..U.N. documents show that Halliburton's affiliates have had controversial dealings with the Iraqi regime during Cheney's tenure at the company and played a part in helping Saddam Hussein illegally pocket billions of dollars under the U.N.'s oil-for-food program. The Clinton administration blocked one deal Halliburton was trying to push through sale because it was "not authorized under the oil-for-food deal," according to U.N. documents. That deal, between Halliburton subsidiary Ingersoll Dresser Pump Co. and Iraq, included agreements by the firm to sell nearly $1 million in spare parts, compressors and firefighting equipment to refurbish an offshore oil terminal, Khor al Amaya. Still, Halliburton used one of foreign subsidiaries to sell Iraq the equipment it needed so the country could pump more oil, according to a report in the Washington Post in June 2001.
The Halliburton subsidiaries, Dresser-Rand and Ingersoll Dresser Pump Co., sold water and sewage treatment pumps, spare parts for oil facilities and pipeline equipment to Baghdad through French affiliates from the first half of 1997 to the summer of 2000, U.N. records show. Ingersoll Dresser Pump also signed contracts -- later blocked by the United States -- according to the Post, to help repair an Iraqi oil terminal that U.S.-led military forces destroyed in the Gulf War years earlier..."
These are the paragraphs that are not outright editorializing, but the whole thing is old news anyway.
Halliburton Iraq ties more than Cheney said(Newsmax Monday, June 25, 2001)
The Troll thinks he has a big story, but all that has happened is that the AP and "The Scoop"(snicker) finally discovered, (on 10/5/04 and 10/12/04 respectively) was what Newsmax and the Washington Post reported several years ago. If the Democrats could make any hay with this they would have already. Maybe they think no one will notice an attempt at a late hit before election day, but it won't work.
Lolita is a writer now Ping. Heh heh.
Gee, next thing you know they'll be investigating Bill Clinton giving Halliburton a no-bid contract to reconstruct Kosovo. Look into it, you really seem like a comptent researcher. If there's any justice in the world, you'll be the next Buckhead.
If the name of a "Big Money" Political Party Donor with ties to Enron were discovered on the Saddam's Coalition of the Bribed, what do you think would happen to the Candidate of that party?
What if that Candidate of that Party was John Kerry?
Newsweek drops a bombshell on the Kerry Campaign: Texas Oil Baron and Big-Time Democrat Donor Oscar Wyatt has received perhaps as much a $22 million dollars in profits through oil allocations bought illicity from Saddam Hussein.

Who is Oscar Wyatt? More than just a oil man, he's an outspoken critic of both Gulf Wars, and a big time Democratic Party Donor...
Now that you're finished talking, I'll go ahead and flush you.

Awwwwwwww, I missed the ZOT! :-(

Congress really said this considering that all committees are GOP controlled? Dumb Newbee - No Biscuit.

CIAO!
I don't think Mr. Bush is concerned about his "appearance" before Waxman.
Let him sue for it.
Wooo hoooo!
Breath taking! What an original idea by the Dems to call for an investigation of Republicans. This is the end, folks. There's no way we can survive such an ingenious attack.
Bush is legs. This has toast.
Don't worry, he'll be back. He has no life and relies on us for entertainment. Poor child.

Can you please either use a smaller picture, or just pass on pinging me when you use such a large picture? Although I have a fairly decent size monitor and use a high resolution, large graphics stick a horizontal scroll bar at the botto of my browser and screw it up so that I can't see what is on the right side. Thanks.

"(I've got many, many accounts, hehe), I know. This story has legs"
So you admit to having several accounts..
And, guess what, cockroaches have legs too, doesn't make them useful, correct, or noteworthy.
You bet!
