I've been a lurker for years. I just registered to post, but I'd like someone to brief me on the various abbreviations. I know the basics, such as POTUS, and LOL, but there are others I've never figured out. Thanks. It could be a "primer for newbies."
POTUS = President of the United States
LOL = laugh out loud
WTF?
I'm interested as well in the acronyms, like MSM, DU, for instance.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1177448/posts the first post on this thread has most of the links you will want.
KIABFI = Kerry is a big f**king idiot
KAEFEOF = Kerry and Edwards fondle each other frequently
JJHTDBTB = Jesse Jackson has the DNC by the balls
These are just a few I use.

I'm new, too. What are "bumps" and "pings"?
Welcome!
Some of it you can pick up based on context. Some of it will remain secret forever.
Get ready for some arrows - as this might have been better to post in chat -
just a thought -
DU= Democratic Underworld (lefty website)
Be sure to use "already posted" alot.
FUBAR
Got it. Thanks for the link to the glossary.
A ping means to notify somebody, from Hunt For REd October, as in:
Captain Ramius : Re-verify our range to target... one ping only.
Capt. Vasili Borodin : Captain, I - I - I just...
Captain Ramius : Just give me the ping, Vasili.
Capt. Vasili Borodin : Aye, Captain.

acronym guide.
YOMANK!
Work on those and get back to me. :o)
Bumping is replying to a thread to either move it up the list simply to get it more attention or make it easier for the "bumper" to find later.
Pinging is replying to more than one user to call him/her to the debate.
