I've been listening to ABC News radio's hourly reports during the Sean Hannity show this afternoon. Their reporter, Ann Compton (IIRC) said that President Bush has been cramming (my word) for tonight's third presidential debate in Tempe Arizona.
She reported Bush aides have told her Bush had two debate run throughs with his sparring partner today. And that Bush has been reading note cards containing data on John Kerry's Senate voting record while being driven around in motorcades.
I hate to be a gloom-and-doomer, but this doesn't fill me with confidence. The last thing I'd want before a debate is to have my head filled with loads of new information and statistics and get burnt out with two debate run throughs with the real one hours away.
I figure by this time you go with what's in your gut, your head and your heart.
I will be watching the Astros game tonight since the media has already decided that Kerry will win the debate because domestic issues are his "strong suit". If Bush loses the election, it will be because he didn't have the cajones to tell the MSM to drop dead when they wanted debates. It was a colosal blunder that allowed the MSM to breathe life into a Kerry campaign that was faltering badly...and James Baker should be tarred and feathered for agreeing to THREE debates when Clinton got away with two in '96. The format couldn't have been worse for Bush either, including limiting that long-winded hack, Kerry, to two-minute answers for the first time in his life. I sometimes think Republicans really aren't smart enough to win elections and it's a fluke when they do.
oooooo! I might have goofed up those times. I am really bad at time changes. Never mind:-P
Yup, I know. I hope he's had time to adjust.
I'm guessing that's why he spent time in Crawford.
I PRAY the Good Lord will loose his tongue, and tie kerry's.
2nd debate, Bush won primarily because he was more aggessive. People want to elect strong leaders and were glad to see BUsh come out swinging. I still think Bush could have done much better. I am hoping for that tonight.
Bush just needs to quickly answer the question, and then get onto attacking Kerry as a liberal. Why not. THis is the strategy the Johns are using. Ignore the question and trash the other guy. Don't you just wish Bush would say something about Kerry so far out there, that Kerry would just loose it. I always think back 20+ years ago to the Saturday Night live debate or 60 minute skits. I think they were between Chevy Chase and Jane Curtain. WHere CHevy would just look at Jane and say "Jane you ignorant _______".
Good point - and good memory! True debate has been tossed out the window for a while and only applies when Kerry scores "points" on an issue. If Bush does as you say, he will sew up what he began last week.
You were right, I'm glad to say. My concerns were unfounded.
PresBush was much better in tonights debate then he was in the first debate, but he really didn't get the job done tonight to my satisfaction. Once again, Bush allowed John Kerry to walk all over his record as President, with falsehoods, half truths and outright lies. Bush could've defended his record a lot better then he did. And he should've challenged Kerry more on his liberal Senate voting record. I'm a bit disappointed in the President's performance tonight. I don't think he hurt himself, but I don't think he helped himself either.
Well, if folks made it to the end they saw a man who loves his wife--and another man who loves his wife's money.
As for John Kerry, he came with his debate smugness on full display tonight.
19 days to the reelection of GWBush! Nuff said.
