Jon Stuart on Crossfire
self | 10-16-2004 | self

Posted on 10/15/2004 1:52:21 PM PDT by staytrue

For anyone watching Crossfire. Jon Stuart (spelling) host of the Daily Show is being deadly serious and is calling the show a lot of crap, that the show is hurting america, the show is bad, the hosts are political hackery, that the show is to debate as much as the WWF is to real wrestling.

He's always said this. He thinks it's pathetic that people use TDS as a news source.

now he just said that after the debate the two of you go to a place called spin alley and how sad it is that you go to a place of deception.

Stewart: How old are you Tucker?

Tucker: 35.

Stewart: So why are you still wearing bowties?

Stewart was whining about everybody going to a place called "Spin Alley" immediately after the debate. He was bitching about the name "spin alley."

I'm not impressed with Maher either.

Stewart is very funny even if we are the target of his barbs. Don't ever lose your sense of humor people. TDS said the theme of the Republican convention was "No taxes, less gays"-that's funny. I really liked their response to when Arnold called the libs economic girlie men. When asked what he would tell the million people who lost jobs. Arnold's reply (by an imitator) was "Get over it Faggot". Unlike that %$^& Franken, Stewart is funny.

The way they covered Zell Miller's speech and subsequent exchange with Chrissy Matthews was a classic.

I agree with Stewart--the show is a boring sham. I watched a couple of programs a while ago, thought the talking head hosts were lame, and I have not watched the contrived garbage that they spew since. Of course, I read about what someone said on the show now and then on this forum. That's about it.

Stewart is right. Crossfire has become a joke. Both hosts need to attack the guests from right/left. Right now, all they do is throw mud at each other.

Gee, I thought it was obvious to everyone that Crossfire was a worthless program. Isn't that why they moved it out of its plumb 7:30 spot to cable hell at 4:30. And you couldn't have bigger hacks than Carville and Begalla, and Novak and Carlson aren't so great either. The former represents the old "anti-Israel" right and the latter represents himself.

"Shows like Crossfire, Hannity and Colmes, et al, all suck and offer nothing but bile and useless spin...from both sides of the aisle."

They are the leading cause of heart attacks in America. "Stay tuned Charlie Rangel vs Ann Coulter up next!" Now won't that be pleasant? I would rather hit my pinky toe 15 times with a ball peen hammer than to subject my self to one of those shout show.

The Daily Show is a big part of the trivialization and bitchiness of American politics that he's apparently (I'm not near a TV) talking about.

TDS is a comedy show. As Stewart pointed out he is on the same network with a show that has puppets making prank phone calls. Crossfire on the other hand purports to be a legitimate debate show on a self-proclaimed "news" network. Those are entirely two different things.

One Crossfire is worth a thousand Daily Shows. I'm glad Carlson brought up what a suck-up job Stewart did with the Kerry interview. This really got to him, and he had to go back to his "we're just a comedy show" defence. A nerve was touched there. He wants it both ways. He wants to be respected for being politically relevant but then falls back on this "aw shucks" BS whenever he gets called on a specific point.
