The Battle of Britain was over before the US joined the war. The Luftwaffe was unable to destroy the RAF.

One of the problems of the modern world is that those inferior beings who would normally be eliminated through survival of the fittest manage to continue to live.

Most of this hostility is a result of fear. They know they are in deep trouble, but instead of doing something about it, it's easier to "hate America" so they can say to the enemy within "See, we hate them too, don't hurt us, we're on your side". They really don't have much choice though, because they haven't the courage to face problems head on, they must crawl to survive.

I have to agree with you Citizen, my daughter recently visited England in May and she didn't mention one word of having anytype of bad experience like this. I have noticed that the Brits are not advertising to visit England.

I have always considered why my Grandparents left the lower end of the Gene Pool. I guess the Wacko's they were trying to get away from have finally taken over. Look how many wars the European countries have fought. Some for hundereds of years. They always drag us into their conflicts. If you like Europe -- move their! Change your citizenship, have a blast, leave the American People alone!
Have another war between yourselves but don't come knocking on our door. !! No UN, NO Nothing, no money, no NUTHING !! Kill each other!!

I think the author needs to come on home. But she should probably avoid LA, NY, SF or any town that has a major university. I suggest Utah, Central California, Orange County California and almost anywhere in the south.

What is significant about this rage is that it emanates not from the great unwashed but from the educated and intellectual classes.

Well the Brits would not have won without our support of supplies and pilots.

If we had never joined the war the Germans would have just plain wore the British out.

Well, it's a bit odd. I travelled extensively in the UK and never encountered this sort of abuse--or any, in fact. It's true that I haven't been there since GWB took office, but many of my friends and relatives have, even just a few weeks ago, and they've never mentioned anything but kindness and courtesy.

I agree, my wife and I toured a week in London and a week in Scotland in May 2002.

The only time we were told we weren't really welcome there was when a CNN reporter named Walter Rodgers(recently reporting drivel from Baghdad) told us that, just b4 he interviewed us for a story about post 9/11 travel to Europe, while we were sightseeing in front of #10 Downing Street.. I'm rather certain he didn't use us in the piece since we were just having a great time.

He "wanted" us to express "fear" of travel and "unwelcome" feelings we had experienced in England.

My thoughts exactly while reading this article. The people in America who read the equivalent of the Guardian hate America and Americans just as much as do the Brits she encountered.

FYI--if the USA had not been involved in WW2 Britain would have been taken eventually---they could not produce the material needed nor did they have the manpower--make no mistake about it, the USA was the saviour of the free world both durng and after WW2 although Soviets took the steam out of the Nazis and suffered greatly for doing so--the 'limeys' as a nation having been going downhill for a long time--too close to the the commies and socialists on the continent, is my guess---damn good thing I did not go back for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day this past June, for I would have kicked ass (even at 82) if they made any cracks to me about America and 9-11--I will tell you all that the people of Britain were some of the finest I ever met during the terrible times they endured in WW2 but people change just as they have in our country by even considering a POS, TRAITOR, like Kerry to be a President.

they've never mentioned anything but kindness and courtesy.

I spent two weeks over there just this summer and did not hear one unkind comment. Even my commie teacher's-union cousin was decent to me.

Silly. I've been all over, and most people don't care about you one way or another. Sure, there's the occasional snide remark, but most people the world over care about themselves, their families, their job, and their lives. Making a fool out of yourself in public is generally reserved for the college kids.

I don’t think it happens like this everyday but the author is not making anything up. I’ve seen the abuse brits throw out. It’s not just the left that spews, it’ basically the whole country.

Sorry Dr. Tom, “member of the mightiest nation on earth” is a silly. That sounds a bit too academic to me---just be yourself, be courteous but don’t take it too far or you will get rolled. Anyone who travels extensively would have to search very hard to find an actual American who fits that stereotype. Of course, there is a certain percentage from any country that act a bit boorish and to say that Americans have a higher percentage is ludicrous. If anything, we are too careful.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the Brits a lot and have many great friends from there. But if the majority of Americans were made aware of the anti-Americanism in the UK, the special relationship would be severely strained.

The media has saturated the public so much that it has become an exercise in how propaganda affects the public. The fact that nearly all "trusted" opinion makers promote the same thing makes it much harder to withstand.

If you think about it, you come to know how to think of something by how it's reported, and based on who reports it. If someone appears to be an expert, then their opinion is trusted. So we have the left infiltrating the expert roles, including journalist, professor, and reporter. Who do people trust after that?

Well, if you have already been disenchanted by "expert" opinions, then you begin to rebel, and so the next generation is now showing signs of rebelling against the liberal clergy in their posts in newsrooms and academia. I have experienced a flood of conservative thought by my peers against liberal professors as a college student in California. I have also heard reports about professors complaining about how they are being challenged now more than ever.

This is the only way that the left will be overthrown. The youth must rebel.

The article is "spot on."

As an American living in London, I can tell you, my family--especially my wife and daughters, literally keeps quiet when we move about so people do not hear our American accents.

It is getting to be dangerous. There are many hateful anti-American kooks here. Many are funded no doubt by the Mullahs and Islamicists.

A combination of envy and anger that we possess the liberties, wealth and pride that have been leeched out of them by a mediocrity-producing socialist system.
