Great Site for Carry Info 50 States: Packing.Org

I have seen many discussions lately on how people are "scared" to apply for a non resident ltc. Because of this I would like to give anyone who would like to apply or reapply a better guideline as to what has worked for me and what they will accept as a reason to fear injury to your person or property after the policy change. Call the Massachusetts State Police at 617-660-4780, and ask for the Firearms Record Bureau.

Ask for an application packet for a non-resident Class A LTC. You should get it in about two weeks.

Once you get it, make sure you have the following before you send it back in.

Massachusetts Class A LTC Application Checklist:

This is a great site with info on carry laws and licenses in all 50 states. It has tables of receiprocity and has information that is useful not only for residents but for non-residents. For example, if you check out the Massachusetts posts, it turns out that you must ask for a "Class A LTC (License to Carry) for All Lawful Purposes" in order to be able to carry concealed and to carry a pistol with a greater than 10 round magazine. The excerpt is from http://www.packing.org/news/article.jsp/9328 the "Packing Org NEWS Page" for Massachusetts (right sidebar). Check out this page for each state you're interested in to see the nuances of applying. Good luck!

Please be sure to spread the word! I tell everyone I meet at the range, gunstores, etc. about this site. Also, check my posts and see where I recommend you make up a flyer to leave at the range and gunstores, with info about packing.org, FR, other good gun sites. I haven't done it yet but if you go to the FR home page under FR Stuff you can get FR refrigerator magnets in quantity, buy a lot and give them to your local range or gun store, have 'em leave them out in a bowl with a pile of flyers. The more people find out about places like FR and packing.org the better off we will all be. Good luck!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1220697/posts is my previous post, scroll down, I typed this up and printed it out in color on my PC and distributed it. I added the CT gun organizations as well as GOAL (Mass.) and GO-NH (NH) since they have a lot of info that is useful to New Englanders. Add the URLs for the gun groups in the states next to you; can't hurt, might help.

Thanks for the link! I'd never heard of Packing.org, but can use it now that I've fallen a little behind in local gun laws.

Excellent information. Thanks for posting -- it is added to my favorites list. Discovered that I can carry in 19 states with my existing licenses.
