JON STEWART 'DAILY SHOW' IN SURPRISE AUDIENCE -- DROP
Drudge ^ | 10/17/04 | Drudge

COMEDY CENTRAL's 'DAILY SHOW' has experienced surprise audience erroision -- despite a publicity push by host Jon Stewart.

Stewart, who announced last week that he plans to support John Kerry, pulled 1,040,000 total viewers for month of September -- down 7% from August, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A jumbo push by media writers and a bestselling book apparently has failed to translate into any audience improvement.

I love comedy; I always have.

I personally don't give a rat's ass what a comedian's politics are, so long as the Comedian has the ability to make me laugh.

Stewart has failed me in that regard. The dude just ain't funny. He sucks major donkey. He is a comedic train wreck. It stuns me that such a mediocre person has been entrusted with such a big show.

Bobby Bittman, Schmenge Brothers, Bob and Doug; where are you?!

Agreed on that too - I never really like it with him. The format just wasn't a good fit. Probably why he left after only 5 years.

"I am not a liberal"

THis seems to be the new talking point of the dems?
When Bush referred to Kerry as a liberal in the last debate, Kerry = who had a few months ago proclaimed "I am a liberal and proud of it" = attacked Bush and accused him of throwing labels around???
Have they discovered that the liberal base isn't enough to elect?
I saw on Fox tonight a segment about the dems from the south staying as far away as they can from Kerry ' some not even going to the convention because they're afraid association with Kerry will cause them to loose! I love it!

On one hand Stewart will say he has a comedy show, it's only make believe but on the other hand he takes himself seriously, writing books, and having a political agenda and venturing out onto Crossfire.

Bill Maher is an elitist. He treats his audience as stupid dopes, and expects them to pat him on the back. The sad thing is, so many of them do because they are stupid dopes for the most part.

But Maher ranks right up there with those who know the truth, but choose to promote their agenda with misinformation and propaganda, disguised as entertainment. Thinly disguised.

When he talks about Bush, it is obvious to me that he knows he is lying. He does something with his eyes and the set of his shoulders when he lies but wants people to believe he is telling the truth.

I used to be a big fan of the show, but now I can't stomach it. I turned my mom on to it about 3 years ago and now she is a total Kool-aid drinking Lib. Pathetic. I blame Jon Stewart and NY Newsday for corrupting her. Is there a 12 step program I can find for her?? :)

Yeah go to ifilm.dom. Is it me or is Tucker Calson just not really the right guy for that show? Even I don't like him because he gets steam rolled over too often.

Stewart's head got so big he forgot he was a comedian and started thinking he actually had something to say. Evidently, people are using their remotes to disagree.

I quit watching The Daily Show when Craig Kilborn left for the CBS gig. I haven't watched his CBS gig to date. Craig Kilborn was funny, hip and always had a reason for me to tune in. Stewart is just a DNC clown, pure and simple.

Comedy is what got him to where he is and now he is more Margaret Cho than Bill Murray. Not funny.
