Gore warns of election grab by Bush
Boston Herald ^ | 10/18/04 | Noelle Straub

WASHINGTON -Former Vice President Al Gore, who lost the bitterly contested 2000 election, is warning of a repeat of the recount nightmare in Florida.
``The widespread efforts by (President) Bush's political allies to suppress voting have reached epidemic proportions,'' he charged yesterday. ``Some of the scandals of Florida four years ago are now being repeated in broad daylight even as we meet here today.''
He said the Bush team used an Enron jet to ferry ``their rent-a-mob to Florida in 2000 to permanently halt the counting of legally cast ballots.''
In a stinging indictment of his former rival, Gore accused Bush of forbidding dissent, disdaining facts and ignoring his mistakes in a ``recklessness that risks the safety and security of the American people.''
``It is love of power for its own sake that is the original sin of this presidency,'' Gore said in a speech at Georgetown University sponsored by the liberal group MoveOn.org.
But Bush campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt said, ``Al Gore seems intent on shattering whatever minuscule credibility he has left with baseless, mean-spirited personal attacks and conspiracy theories.''

Yet again the beloved and orthodox Society of Jesus strikes. Wonder how they could allow a pro-abortion group (MoveOn.org) sponsor a pro-abortion pol. (Al Gore) giving a speech urging the defeat of a pro-life candidate in favor of perhaps the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever (Kerry).

It must really suck to be Al Gore.

At least George W. Bush has never tried to prevent our troops from having their votes counted.

The poor demented freak's mental condition just won't allow him to admit defeat. Sad! Poor sad freak.

Wow, I really am surprised at the extent to which elements of the left are willing to go. They're risking permanent damage to the legitimacy of elections in this country. (not not not NOT just elections they lose, but ALL elections.)

Democracy is a delicate enough illusion as it is. Sustained talk like this won't do it any good at all.

Perhaps that's what the Goreons want, like the murderous boyfriend who screams, "If I can't have her; nobody will!"

"He said the Bush team used an Enron jet"

What?
Were all the Haliburton jets broken?

Sheesh.

Gore is saying what Democrats are up to when he makes accusations against Republicans.
That is how THEY think.

The left is planting the seed of doubt about the vote.

Al Gore, left, and Howard Dean join hands at a fundraiser in Harlem after Gore announced his endoresement. By Stan Honda, AFP "All of us need to get behind the strongest candidate," Gore said at the breakfast. "This nation cannot afford to have four more years of a Bush-Cheney administration."

Al Gore...you'd think that the guy who invented the Internet would have devised a better way to discredit the Bush team in 2000.

"Widespread efforts...to suppress voting...epidemic proportions..."

I don't see how Gore gets away with such charges. Schmidt was entirely too mild in response.

I could not agree more. I would only hope the few honest fence sitters remaining would think about how wacko Gore is acting now away from his own campaign trail. Could Kerry be just as wacko apart from his present staged appearance? I dare say, More-so!

And he knows. He knows.

Do you think someone pays people to be a part of his audience? I just can't imagine anyone really wanting to hear what Gore has to say.
