The question the press won't/can't ask John Kerry

Posted on 10/22/2004 2:40:41 PM PDT by GLDNGUN

During this campaign and especially the debates, there was a question for John Kerry that was the proverbial "elephant in the room". It was right there, begging to be asked, but the MSM refuses to ask this very simple question.

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: bush; kerry; kerryiraq
After flip-flopping like a fish out of water on the Iraq War, Kerry decided at the last moment to become "anti-war". Fine. Whatever. It's obvious he did so because it puts him in the position of opposing Bush. Fine. Whatever. He has now attacked Bush for the invasion of Iraq as a huge, collosal mistake. He claims Bush ignored facts, counsel, advice, etc. and "rushed into war". Fine. Whatever. These points can be debated and were. The question to Mr. Kerry should then be: "Senator Kerry, you make it sound as if Bush was determined to go into Iraq and oust Saddam no matter what. WHY, Senator, WHY WAS HE?"

Is that such a tough question? Is the MSM so lame that they can't ask that obvious question? These people call themselves journalists? Actually, I don't think it's an accident. I don't think the press wants to ask him the question, and you never hear Kerry talk about the "WHY" of what Bush did. And "why" don't they want to ask him the "why" question and "why" does Kerry not want to get the question? Because it's a loser for Kerry no matter what he answers. There are only 2 general possibilities for the invasion of Iraq as I see it. Either Bush did it for the reasons stated (war on terror) OR ulterior motives. If Kerry says it's the first then, then he's basically saying "Bush had the right movites and intent. He was trying to protect Americans by winning a battle he considers part of the war on terror. I disagree with his actions, but I can't fault his motives". Can you imagine Kerry giving Bush credit for making an honest mistake? NO WAY! So, if Kerry isn't willing to acknowledge that Bush had the right motives, then he must think Bush had ulterior motives and lied about the real reasons. So, Senator Kerry what then was the "real" reason Bush went into Iraq??? Kerry can't answer this question without coming off as some kind of conspiracy nut who watched F911 one too many times. He knows that any other possible rationale (Halliburton, oil, Jews, etc.) would make it sound like he's lost his grip on reality.

I just wish someone, anyone, in the press would require him to answer this question. The fact that no one will is a clear demonstration of what a joke the MSM is.

I would be a little cautious about that question...the Dems would "like" to say (my opinion) that Bush went into Iraq to appease his father for not finishing the job...and all that time....Hussein kept mocking him over it...he had Bushs fathers picture imprinted on the floor in one of his many mansions so that he could step on it all the time...you see early on, once Bush won the elections word had been circulating that Bush wanted to go after Hussein...Now, 9/11 gave him a reason to go...BUT he did have intelligence that also backed up the fact that Saddam had WMDs....that's my thought on this...

The press can't require him to answer anything.

In the LSM's defense (gacckk!), if any one reporter asks the "tough" questions, he or she is dumped from the entourage in short order. And said reporter might find themself out of work. So they throw the slow pitches.

Unfortunately, the new media hasn't really found a good way to do the reporting function that the LSM provides. Even FR, much as I like it, is almost always in a responsive mode. And usually responding to the content generated by the LSM.

I see a way around that, but I doubt enough people would want to volunteer to do the legwork.

Thanks. I can't do it on my own, but if we all start to ask, maybe it will get through. It's a very simple question: "Mr. Kerry, WHY do YOU think Bush went into Iraq?". And don't let Kerry or his cronies get off with ignoring or changing the subject. Pin them down!

Bush went to Iraq for one thing, and one thing only.

Falafel and hummas pita sandwiches.
