NBC BLOWS A HOLE IN NY TIMES' EXPLOSIVES STORY (KERRY SPOT)
The Kerry Spot, NRO ^ | 10/25/04 | Jim miclacevski

KERRY SPOT

Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.

NBC News: Miklaszewski: “April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq.” (NBC’s “Nightly News,” 10/25/04)

If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.

I wonder if David Bloom (the reporter that died in Iraq) was with the 101st then.

I believe he was with the 3rd ID, wasn't he? Wasn't it the 3rd that raced up the west flank?

Gee, do you suppose maybe all that diddling around for months with the UN gave terrorists ample opportunity to squirrel the explosives away somewhere BEFORE we arrived? Nah, who'd believe that...

Yeah...who'd believe that?

And I guaran-peejay-tee you...that the same people who are trying to rip POTUS a new one about going into Iraq and not finding weapons of mass destruction, would be trying to rip him a new one if he didn't go in there, and we ended up getting hit by a nuclear weapon, the deadly results of which would have made 9-11 look like a...

...(if I dood it, I get a whuppin...I dood it)...

NUISANCE???

What would be the first thing you would hear? "OF COURSE THERE WERE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION! ALL OF OUR INTELLIGENCE SAID SO!"

Then the Left would trot out the statements by Halfbright, Weasely Clark, Ted (hiccup) Kennedy, Al Gollum, BJ Clinton, She Who Must Not Be Named, Flurch Munster, Silky Pony, and all the others.

And you know what? They would have a valid point.

But this happens under a President who is followed by the letter "R"...BUSH LIED! RUSH TO WAR! I WOULD HAVE DONE EVERYTHING DIFFERENTLY! WRONG WAR, WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME! QUAGMIRE!"

Uh, waiter..Advil, please?

public@nytimes.com --- let him have it. I want a retraction tomorrow. This is as outrageous as the see-BS faked memos. I sent in mine.

The NYTimes faked the story to try and blame Bush -- I hope Bush lays into Kerry tomorrow about not having his facts straight and how dangerous that is.

" Expect a quick surrender now that the word is out: they are Al Qakaa!",/i>

I pulled a chest muscle today raking leaves. You have caused me extreme pain as I laughed and groaned at the same time.

Kerry will be quoting Al Jazeera news as fact off the cuff before this thing is through. Still, big fictitious stories with small retractions are no longer considered badges of shame by the MSM. Too many people will miss any correction, if any is even given or demanded.

The "Left Coast" represented by the DU are an indicator that ignorance and hatred are becoming the norm is our great country..they will say and do anything to promote their darkness. And the sad part is they believe in their own lies.

Are you saying that NBC is running this information tomight??

If they're running it tonight, it's great, but somehow I have the feeling that no one will touch this.

"The letter (from the UN) informed the IAEA that since Sept. 4, 2003, looting at the Al-Qaqaa installation south of Baghdad had resulted in the loss of 214.67 tons of HMX, 155.68 tons of RDX and 6.39 tons of PETN explosives."" U.N. agency confirms 377 tons of explosives have vanished

NBC News: Miklaszewski: “April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing..."

George W. Bush: "We will ... turn them one against another ... "

Apparently, when Bush said this he meant the MSM in addition to the terrorists.
