NBC BLOWS A HOLE IN NY TIMES' EXPLOSIVES STORY (KERRY SPOT)
The Kerry Spot, NRO ^ | 10/25/04 | Jim miclacevski

KERRY SPOT

Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.

NBC News: Miklaszewski: “April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq.” (NBC’s “Nightly News,” 10/25/04)

If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.

Now that the Washington Post ad has had MAXIMUM exposure in both the print and electronic media (for maximum effect)--the NBC report will only get minimal, passing, back-page mention.

No my friend did.
But there are gifs all over the net today of her dance and some of her walking off the stage.
So it is no biggie.

I was just kidding with you anyway.
I hope everytime there is good news someone will post the Ashlee dance.

Gee, do you suppose maybe all that diddling around for months with the UN gave terrorists ample opportunity to squirrel the explosives away somewhere BEFORE we arrived? Nah, who'd believe that...

Let's not forget Tom Daschle's "Why the rush to war?" stall.

The liberals accidentally helped the war effort ( probably saved some troops' lives ) by persuading Hussein to export ( or bury ) his WMDs so that they could send in inspectors to give him the "all clear" while they stalled Bush.

Much of the noise that the left makes against Bush regarding Iraq is to persuade Hussein that he wasn't duped by them so that Hussein doesn't spill the beans on the leftist-baathist Oil>Food/weapons removal dealings.

OMG, I just saw her on NBC "live". She has no ability to stay on key. Unreal.

This has been the NYSLimes spin: stolen WMD!

But of course, there were no WMDs.

Except for the ones that were stolen!

These are ordinary high-explosives, but can be used to BRING DOWN AN AIRLINER!

Yeah. So can dynamite.

Fear-mongering by the NYSlimes to aid sKerry.

Now proven by NBC to be total bulls**t.

You must be so proud of your son. I sure am proud to know that he is out there. God Bless him.

I'm also glad to know that the 101st is pro-Bush.

I wish a soldier on that mission could surface and wat Lurch's lunch.

It kind of played out well today: The unfortunate story of the Supreme court judge's thyroid cancer was a "news alert" all day - then there was this story (before the NBC true story) - and both of them took a lot of attention away from Kerry/clinton fun-fest in Philadelphia. HA

Now, the news of NBC will take up news time tomorrrow.

I believe Drudge said on his radio show last night that he thought this story (the weapons missing) may be a plant by Rove...with more news set up for later in the week.

Looks like we got it. Now I think this sets up the report of asking for more money at the start of next year for Iraq. Makes sense-they have all these weapons scattered about..we need to get them.

And I agree with whoever said the DUmmies took this story hook, line and sinker...believe all these massive weapons could be taken out of a storage facility but there is no way some vials of WMD could be. They are idiots for sure.

I am absolutely astounded by this! Not at the facts of the story...but the fact that NBC is contradicting a NYT story. Especially a NYT story that could have a negative effect on President Bush. I predicted yesterday that the rest of the MSM would only follow the NYT lead...as they usually do. I am happy to be wrong!

should apologize and so should her pimp, John Kerry... who jumped all over this story to politize it. *********************************

wanna take bets he was given a head up afore-hand?

or maybe he concocted it with them in the first place..

"Sean Hannity needs to mention this to Bush in his interview tonight."

It was pre-taped. That news was a "breath of fresh air". It will be interesting to see how the NYT reports this tomorrow. Probably will make page 10 or so.
Pres Bush needs to use Kerry's exact quotes of today against him tomorrow, in every speech he gives. I would expect the NYT to have a negative headline about Bush, everyday until Nov 2, maybe something again about Bush's guard service. You can bet, that somewhere in a dusty old warehouse or storage trailor, media personnel are still looking for something with Bush's name on military records.

On Fox & Friends this morning, a person called in saying that she lived in FL, and that in her driveway this morning was a copy of the NYT. In fact, she said, there was a copy of the paper in every driveway up and down her street. Not one of her neighbors was a NYT subscriber!
