online?
Online poll???
not vouching for accuracy/lack of bias here.. that caught my eye as well...
This is another Internet poll, just like some of Zogby's trash. Why do they waste their time and our's with this rubbish?
It's pure garbage. It's an online poll.
Harris poll has always been bias. Going back to when there were just two major polls, Harris and Gallup, Harris was always 2-3 points to the left of Gallup, and usually 2-3 points off.
Darn! It's going to be a long week.
Harris was right on last time.
I was worried when I saw the headline until I saw "online".
In other words, Bull S$%#.
I believe that Mrs. Lou Harris is or was a big official in the Democrat National Committee. Harris in the past has overstated Democrat strength, but I understand this year, he had been polling fairly favorable to Bush.
yes, online. I was scared for a minute when I saw this poll, thought it was phone, but its online.
Yeah, I was concerned until I saw "online". Still, the weapons thing will probably cause a temporary dip in Bush's spread over Kerry even though it is bogus. Hopefully the fallout from it turns into a nice Bush bounce by Tuesday.
I don't understand how they can say cell phone users throw off certain results, yet think there is ANY value to online polling.
outch
Not any more accurate than the AOL poll. Crapola.
I was not aware of this relatively new federal law which requires ID for all first time voters. This should help prevent fraud.
"HAVA" (VOTING LAW CHANGES FOR 2004)
The federal Help America Vote Act of 2002 will change some voter registration procedures to be followed in the primary. These specify the identification documents accepted when voters register to vote, identification requirements for first-time voters and procedures to follow when a voter's name does not appear on the voter rolls on Election Day. Also, state law provides for a modified partisan primary in which nonpartisan voters may choose among several ballots to vote.
The following summarizes significant features of the upcoming election.
New Identification Requirements
For Voter Registration or Re-Registration
The federal Help America Vote Act of 2002 specifies the identification documents accepted when voters register to vote, identification requirements for first-time voters and procedures to follow when a voter's name does not appear on the voter rolls on Election Day.
It is now necessary to include the driver's license number, the Department of Motor Vehicles ID number or the last four digits of the individual's Social Security number on a new Voter Registration Card when voters register or re-register to vote.
For First-Time Voters
First-time voters must provide identification when they first register to vote.
If first-time voters registered to vote by mail after January 1, 2003 did not provide a copy of acceptable identification when requesting an absentee ballot for a federal election, they must provide identification when they return the absentee ballot. Absentee ballots may be returned at the polls or by mail.
Don't know if RCP will include this in their average.
If they don't, you'll know it is utter B.S.
Harris has been around a long time. Does anybody know if they have fully switched to online polling, or are some of their polls done by telephone?
I don't understand how you can do an online poll without biasing against certain groups (e.g. older voters.) Even if you reweight, it has a lot of potential to skew a sample.
