First: Checkmate.

Kerry's huge scandal has just blown up. In his face. He will look like a fool over the next couple of days. He made desperate charges, and now he will have to conduct a climbdown. This is the end.

I strongly suspect that this story, if it gets play, will lead to a loss of some morale among marginal Kerry voters.

Second: the SPETZNAZ moved in and moved the stuff to Syria. Why? BECAUSE THE STUFF HAD BEEN MADE AND SOLD TO SADDAM BY THE RUSSIANS AND UNDER RUSSIAN SUPERVISION!!!! If it's SPETZNAZ troops, or the Guards Iron Hammer Airborne troops, it's Putin's personal operation.

We KNEW this, and have known it all along. It was the intention of Bush to forgive the Russians their tresspasses because Putin never betrayed Bush personally. The Russians were in cold pursuit of their national interests. We knew that Putin was moving the stuff out. We also knew something else:

Putin took possession of Saddam's WMD stockpile, in part to give the headstrong Americans pause, in part to cover their own participation in the Moustache's arms buildup, and lastly to keep it out of the hands of Al Qaeda, and their good friends, the Chechens. Botulinum toxin or VX gas works just as well in the Moscow Subway system as it would in Penn Station. I will bet you that Bush, Rice, Powell, Rummy, the head spooks at CIA, Blair, and MI-6 knew this as well.

This story tells me the whole missing ingredient: Vladimir Putin. Only the KGB could assemble a team in a short time and get the bad stuff out. They knew where it was hidden; we did not. He must have promised Saddam asylum and a healthy retirement on the Black Sea in exchange for cooperation. I wonder how long it took for Saddam to realize that Putin had taken him to the cleaners?

Why did we let a huge KGB operation go forward? Why did we let the WMD escape? Well, two reasons:

1. The WMD and the high explosives were going into Russian hands. Russians are reasonable, sane people. They are not Arabs.

2. And the most important reason of all? Saddam would never get the chance to use combat mycotoxins or VX against our troops. It is possible that hundreds of lives were saved this way, possibly several thousand. If the choice was between Bush being embarrassed and having to put up with the likes of a blowhard like John Kerry and Bush presiding over the loss of hundreds of guys in a single day due to VX?

The choice, my friends, was an easy one for Bush to make.

Which is another reason why he gets my vote: the interest of the fighting men came first.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Thanks that link worked.:::

Mr. Shaw, who was in charge of cataloguing the tons of conventional arms provided to Iraq by foreign suppliers, said he recently obtained reliable information on the arms-dispersal program from two European intelligence services that have detailed knowledge of the Russian-Iraqi weapons collaboration.

That sounds pretty solid!!!!

The Russian convoy that was shot at was mainly from the embassy, and occurred on 4/7/03. The explosives were probably extracted between January and early March

story from way back:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20040816-011235-4438r.htm

The recent discovery by the Bush administration's Iraq Survey Group (ISG) is fueling speculation, but is not proof, that the Iraqi dictator moved prohibited weapons of mass destruction (WMD) into Syria before the March 2003 invasion by a U.S.-led coalition. ....

The shift was followed by the movement of trucks in and out of Syria suspected of carrying materials banned by U.N. sanctions. Once the shipments were made, the agents would leave and the regular border guards would resume their ...etc

Reporters talking to ABC News radio less than 30 mins. ago indicated John Kerry has stopped talking about this issue tonight. Another reporter indicated that it looks like Kerry has gone over the edge taking CBS and NYT with him.

OMG.........Christmas has come early!

Theory:

1.Bush and Allawi know something about weapons in Syria sent there by Russia
2.Russia is not cooperating fully with Iraq's rebuilding/war on terror
3.GWB and Allawi decide to set up Putin
4.Allawi sends note to UN
5.UN sends note to NYT
5.NYT runs with story
6.Kerry makes a royal ass of himself, admits there were WMD thereby
7.Putin comes clean about helping Iraq out before war, but is sorry now...
8.Bush wins 40 states

I have been harping on this fact for a few days.

All kinds of security storage thefts overcome seals easily and the IAEA never looked inside on their last visit.

But ya can't beat propaganda with factual things like that.

Looks like this story will be getting legs. Big legs!

Thanks for that post -- I'd remembered seeing a story that Russia wanted inspectors back. A nice slap in the face, I'd say.

Can't wait to see a joint press conference with Putin and Bush explaining that they had decided before the war that Russia would secure, catalog and authenticate the WMDs. Therefore, proving their existence and that coalition forces did not plant them. For international security purposes they have not been able to divulge this information and have no other option than to do so now.

Back in mid-spring, I rather flippantly told a buddy I believed the President would get about 340 electoral votes.

Being a gentleman, I have stuck to that number since then. Now it seems I might have lowballed it. LOL
