Evan Thomas, "Half the country doesn‘t believe a thing that we say..."
Hardball ^ | 10/27/04 | MSNBC

MATTHEWS: Well, Evan, if that‘s the case, if voters are going into the booth next Tuesday or have already voted for the president and the vice president based upon their belief that there was a strong functioning relationship between al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein in terms of obviously 9/11, [...Saddam was supporting, funding, and harboring terrorists -- that makes him a terrorist (see Bush doctrine)...] and that there‘s a clear-cut case that there was WMD in that country at the time we went in, [...no one can tell what Saddam did with explosives at Al Qaa Qaa, what else did he hide? He never gave an account of what he did with WMD that everyone knows he had...] then we in the news business have not done the [snow]job with half the country. They still have misinformation.

THOMAS: Well, we know from a lot of the polls that at least half the country doesn‘t believe a thing that we say. So...

It's more than half the country that doesn't believe a thing that they say!!! And these people wonder why their latest onslaught of "bad news for Bush" doesn't help Jen-Jis John in the polls. Why do they even bother? When are the limousine liberals going to stop wasting millions and millions on propaganda like MessNBC and Newsweak, when they go broke? The MSM is just a bad freakshow...

Well when you get the reputation of faking news, telling lies what else did you expect Evan? A reputation is a precious thing...ya should have guarded it like a virgin should guard her virginity until marriage.

Half the country? The total viewers of MSNBC is less than half a county in Wyoming.

half the country doesn‘t believe a thing that we say.

And who's fault is that?

If they dealt in more truth/fact and less spin maybe someone would believe them.

You can't blame others for your own lack of credability (unless you're a liberal).

Exactly right, Gail! You nailed it like . . . . well, the virgin you mentioned. The MSM has blown every ounce of credibility they may once have enjoyed due to the incessant lies and fabrications they have paricipated in presenting as "news".

Students in the so-called "journalism" schools need to be taking a long hard look at the likes of Blather, Brokenjaw, Jennings, Couric, etc., etc. These are the faces of the people who are destroying their future careers, not to mention those at the NYT, WaPo, LAT and similar garbage wrappers.

Evan, my boy, what have you and your MSM cronies done lately that would merit anyone to believe you?

Advertisers ought to wake up and smell the coffee. The only people who watch TV network news are those who are too poor to afford cable or satellite...not exactly a marketing plus. The only ones who believe the leftists in the MSM are the brainwashed college crowd and the government-dependent minorities and elderly. Anyone with a modicum of self-reliance can see through the clumsy tactics of manipulation that these tired agents of socialism have used to subvert freedom since the time of FDR. All conservative parents ought to be equipping their growing children with the clear-eyed ability to spot leftist BS and to stand up against it. It may take the next generation of doughty abortion survivors to drive the stake into the heart of the Left.

Drudge has a link to an Editor's and Publisher's story showing circulation at the Los Angelos Times and Chicago Tribune have dropped off at least 6 percent. Both papers are owned by the Tribune Company. No explanation for the drop. The story primarily talks about the CEO's retirement.

Following the election, will be interesting to see how circulation for major MSM players is affected by the way they reported the campaigns. And from circulation strength, or the lack of it, comes . . . how much the MSM can charge their advertisers.

But the viewership is only part of the story. MSNBC (and Chrissie Matthews) provide a platform for people to come on and make statements that can be then be picked up by the rest of the media echo chamber and amplified.

Yes, it is.

MR. THOMAS: There's one other base here, the media. Let's talk a little media bias here. The media, I think, wants Kerry to win and I think they're going to portray Kerry and Edwards I'm talking about the establishment media, not Fox. They're going to portray Kerry and Edwards as being young and dynamic and optimistic and there's going to be this glow about them, collective glow, the two of them, that's going to be worth maybe 15 points.

I have never thought that 9/11 and Saddam were synonymous, but a terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist. We had to start somewhere and Iraq was the logical place. There have been no more attacks on our shores or embassies, or ships since George Bush took control and showed the World what a leader is really like. Chris will never understand that we are a safer nation because of George Bush.

Readership in the LA Times and other MSM publications is way down. I predict that it won't be long until there will not be a print media.

If Bush wins it will be in large part due to the behavior of the Dems. Bush cannot win the White House without a lot of cross over vote from Dems. The Kerry campaign has run so far to the left and told lie so big you can drive a truck through them that more conservative Dems are turned off. What sells well to the nut wing part of the Democratic party totally turns of Dem voters in the south and the mid west. My family in the mid west are Dems going back to the Roosevelt era. They have hung pretty tight to the party until this year. Many will be voting for a Republican for the first time. My cousin told me that Michael Moore so disgusted her that she in voting for Bush. I am glad to see that not all Dems are totally brain washed. If all the conservative Dems re-registered as Republicans we would have a much better idea how much their platform in really selling in the heartland.
