"I generally do not criticize Republicans. I do make an exception with liberal Republicans like Arnold. If you don't like that, too bad."

Oh, you've had plenty of criticisms for Republicans, and more than just Arnold.

And I find it offensive that you would presume to put words in the mouth of our late President. No one should do that.

You're right. SO WHAT! I said, I generally do not criticize Republicans. Never said, I NEVER criticize Republicans. Politics is all about agreeing or disagreeing with a candidates policy agenda and an office holders governing agenda.

>>>>And I find it offensive that you would presume to put words in the mouth of our late President. No one should do that.

You may find it offensive, but this is a free country and I enjoy the give and take of politics as much as Reagan did. You have made an issue out of something and not supplied any evidence to support your contentions.

I have supplied evidence. Reagan's political record is all the evidence I need to reach an intelligent conclusion on where he would stand on the politics of Arnold Scwarzewnegger. And I do not believe Reagan would support Arnold, because of his liberal politics.

You have supplied NO evidence. You have supplied YOUR PRESUMPTIONS. It is impossible to prove what you are trying to prove.

"And I do not believe Reagan would support Arnold....."

That's your belief, that's not evidence. Ron Reagan Junior also presumes to implant his atheistic beliefs on his father. I find that equally offensive.

You know, I heard Arnold talking to Sean Hannity today on the radio and he was joking with him about no sex for several days and Arnold said that was just a joke -- not true -- maria has been very supportive.

Ronald Reagan's 40 year public career in politics is hard evidence. Ronald Reagan's 40 year public career in politics is real and aren't my presumptions. Drawing a conclusion based on the politics of Ronald Reagan isn't impossible to do.

Don't take my word for it. Go down the list of issues. You will see that Arnold's politics are left of center, while Reagan's politics are right of center. Arnold is a liberal. Reagan was a conservative. Those are the facts. Those facts are what seems to be upsetting you. Very irrational.

>>>>Ron Reagan Junior also presumes to implant his atheistic beliefs on his father. I find that equally offensive.

So do I and for good reason. Ron Prescott Reagan is a liberal and most of what he says is offensive to this conservative.

You cannot presume to decide how President Reagan would speak of Arnold. You can't. No one can do that, and I cannot believe that anyone would think so much of himself to presume to do it. But you have. I think that defines irrational, and delusional, and ego-centric.

My conclusions are based purely on the politics of Reagan and Arnold. If you want to believe that Reagan would have approved of Arnold's politics, I think you're the one whose "irrational, and delusional, and ego-centric."

Its crystal clear. Reagan wanted to advance the conservative agenda of the GOP and make sure that it was dominant in all aspects, over Democratic Party liberalism. These are historical facts. Just read some of Reagan's famous speeches. The theme that flows throughout Reagan's speeches is what he preached to America for years. Reagan believed in the the four pilliars of conservatism. Limited government, tax reform, support for pro-life issues and of course, a strong national defense.

Reagan and Schwarzenegger are at opposite ends of the political spectrum. They have very little in common on the major issues of our day.

I was at the Bush rally in Saginaw, Mi yesterday. It was packed, the crowd was pumped and energized...depending on how sucessful the other side is in cheating, Bush just may take Mi this time on the strength of the Christian vote...they realize how much is at stake this election! Keep praying for us!

Comparing the two rallies, the mood a little different in Columbus. I watched it on C-Span. The ten minute applause at the start of the rally was for Bush, in my opinion. The Bin Laden tape brought back feelings from 9-11. I also got the impression the crowd wanted Arnold to hurry up so they could hear the Pres. Or perhaps I was projecting my own feelings on the crowd!

To hear Bush at these rallies is reassuring, and his absolute clarity is comforting in the worry of this surreal election. Tonight, added to that was a sense of outrage... Bin Laden obviously thinks America will be another Spain, frightened into submission!

Arnold may have "stolen the show" at the rally if not for the Bin Laden tape, I think. I thought Arnold was great at the convention, and did originally think he may get way more coverage & attention than Bush.

(about Arnold.....I know he is busy in CA and has to be a bit careful not to alienate his supporters at home, but I thought it seemed that most people thought he was really doing Bush a HUGE favor, and was only doing it because he was obligated to, as repayment for the prime slot he was given at the convention. The media implied it was quite noble of Arnold....he may lose some popularity over it! I wondered if he felt he was being noble, too?)

My perception was that Osama's threats changed the mood of Bush's crowd of supporters, perhaps only subtly noticeable. It was more obvious to me, as I just saw him yesterday. We love him here, but this audience had the
9-11 emotion increased... I know that tonight those emotions made me recall how he strengthened and comforted the nation...and fired us up at the same time. Just like before, there was the want and meed to hear HIM; he can articulate those feelings... because he actually feels them too. How rare in a politician! And this loving empathy for the American people is a quality that Kerry entirely lacks. Well...I will concede Kerry has loving empathy for himself, and his own blind ambition.

It never even occured to me that the extended applause at the beginning of the rally was for Arnold. I feel quite sure it was not. I was surprised to read that almost everyone watching it thought it was primarily "Arnold adulation". It wasn't until the 50th posting that someone mentioned defiance to Bin Laden in connection to the crowd's behavior. That was closer to my take on it.

Did anyone notice it when Arnold TWICE said a phrase similar to this: "The most important reason I am here in Ohio is to..." the first time he gave the reason as some personal project, I forget what it was....and the crowd was like WHAT?!?! Very little applause, as I think everyone was sure he was going to say that the most important reason was to support George W. Bush. He DID say that immediately after; the second time he used the phrase, he said it this way: "the most important reason I am here is to support George W. Bush." Then he got halfway decent applause in response.... but WHAT was he thinking? Was it error on his part, a simple mistake? If it was a joke, no one seemed to get it.

Arnold was awesome at the convention; his speech then was one of the best and most moving I've ever heard. But this time, his celebrity status was not the "big event" of the night, as it probably would have been, if Osama's video had been released a little later.

Anyway, that is my take on it, comparing the mood and the atmosphere from Saginaw before the threat to Columbus after it. And I am NOT implying our crowd in Michigan loved him less, or was not wildly enthusiastic!

And did you notice, Kerry's first "official comment" about the Bin Laden tape was plagarized from Bush, using the same language Bush used after 9-11?

"Besides, Reagan never meant for that slogan to apply to liberals. Even liberals who have an "R" next to their name. That includes liberals like Scwarzenegger and Rudi Giuliani."

Or RINOs like McCain

I agree with you. Liberals and RINO`s are fair targets in politics. But I don't agree that John McCain is a RINO. I may not agree with him on some issues, but I do believe he's a loyal Republican. A bit crazy at times, but a loyal Republican nonetheless. McCain is supporting Bush`s reelection, after all.

I have been, and I remember most of them. Reagan made compromises also, to get his agenda accomplished. But the purists who now presume to speak for a man who can no longer speak, don't choose to remember that part of history.

"Reagan and Schwarzenegger are at opposite ends of the political spectrum."

Absolute hyperbole, but nothing new from you.

Didn't McCain vote against both of the tax cuts?
McCain co-authored the CFR bill (Bush shouldn't have signed it, but he promised [ugh!]).

Don't forget, he let the rumors flow (for what seemed like a long time) that he was going to be Kerry's VP. Total media whore.
He has been very critical of the president "We need more troops", "Bush has made mistakes", etc.....

Is that the best you've got? Ad hominem responses. I haven't engaged in any exaggeration. Just told the truth. You seem to have a serious problem with the truth.

Schwarzenegger is a self-professed social liberal. So far, after a year as California Governor, Arnold has shown himself to be fiscally irresponsible. He's a borrow and spend liberal and a political neophyte to boot. Good chance he'll be raising income taxes within a year.

Reagan engaged in compromise as a last resort. As for Arnold. He's capitulated as much as he's compromised. LOL

Don't waste your time arguing with this guy! Even Ah-nold's stance on the stem cell issue he's promoting so heavily would NOT be something that Reagan would have supported.

You're right about wasting my time.

These people who are still supporting Arnold aren't conservatives. They're centrists, RINO`s and liberals. AKA.California fruits and nuts!

Boys, boys, please take your spat outside....thank God for GWB, so what if Arnold benefits a bit by this opportunity to be part of the Reagan Revival. Arnold is the "R" governor of Cal-e-forn-ee-a and that in itself is remarkable. President Arnold, I don't think so. IMO, there are Conservatives and then there are Conservative R's.
C=R only part of the time. At this time and place we need to stand together.

If you will review the exchange above, I think you'll find that's what I was asking for. There will always be unappeasables. I find their position despicable, 4 days before the election.

New Hampshirians suck. Sorry.

For too long, they've had their butts kissed by every politician in America because of the timing of their primary.

They are "independent" you know. Screw 'em, they're a piddly little state with a bunch of catatonic jerks living there. Cheney is going out to Hawaii just to tell all those arrogant, flannel wearing cross armed old men "**** you" we don't need your piddly 4 electoral votes anymore."
