McCain for president in 2008
vanity | Oct 30, 2008 | polishproud

In the Friday's edition of the Arizona Republic Chip Scutari opines that John McCain is the GOP front runner for 2008. He claims that McCain is the most "influential politician not living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave." He's a national statesman with star power to match Hillary Clinton. He has hosted Saturday Night Live, appeared on Letterman and Leno and is a constant fixture on the Sunday talk shows.

Scutari goes on to write that If Kerry wins, McCain will run in 08. He can garner crossover vote from moderates and independents and will appeal to "pragmatic conservatives."

McCain thinks there should be more women in office and complains that there are no Hispanics in the Senate. Scutari writes that McCain is a regular guy that has a lot of charisma and claims that McCain has mended his fences with the White House as evidences by his recent stay at Bush's Texas ranch, the only second member of congress to get that honor.

My question to Scutari is, what have you been smoking? McCain has so alienated the Republican base that he could not get elected to national dog catcher. If I was Bush I'd use McCain too.

There are a lot voters out there, moderate and independents, that think because McCain is loved by the press, Larry King and late night show hosts that he would make a good president. But without the Republican base McCain doesn't have a chance.

I will never forget McCain's recent appearance with Senators Lugar and Hagel on a Sunday morning talk show in which he criticized President Bush. President Reagan once said "don't speak ill of a fellow Republican." And McCain did so in the middle of Bush's reelection campaign.

This conservative will stay home if its Clinton Vs McCain in 2008.

That's ALL WE NEED... a Ultra-RINO like McLiberal! Maybe he can get Jumpin' Jim Jeffords to run for V.P. with him, or maybe Barack Obama. What a joke.

Giuliani is no better than McCain, Pataki, Arnold, and the rest of the RINO crowd. Pro gay, anti-2nd Amendment, pro-death (for innocent babies), etc, etc. They sicken me.

So far, 2008 is looking like McCain and Giuliani.

It'll never happen. It's Libby Dole's turn.

Libby Dole was for the so-called Assault Weapons Ban, if I remember right. She, or anyone else in the anti-2nd Amendment crowd can have all my guns... lead first.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!! Dream on! McCain won't even be visible by 2008. If he chooses to run for President, he had better give serious consideration to switching parties. He is not wanted by this Republican!

IMHO McCain is going to walk away with it, (assuming his health holds up). He is unstoppable.

McCain is far and away a better communicator than anybody in the business.

He SHOULD be running with Kerry as his VP.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO he shouldn't!

If he was on the ticket with kerry, do you think we'd be thinking landslide for W right now? I don't.

There's too many folks out there that would think that was better than sliced bread!

You know.........people are actually that ignorant!

Their ticket would probably be running wild. Because there would be "supposed" balance! JMO

"I could never vote for McCain after he wouldn't stand with the SBVs."

I would wager large that the SBV's and their fellow POWs have more than a little dirt on ol' McStain.

"The biggest flaw I can think of is that he is pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage."
Don't forget that he's a first class gun grabber as well. Hmmmmm - no votes from the evangelicals; no votes from the hunters and NRA; but he has the Rino vote sewed up!

I do not agree with Rudy on social issues.. but at the core is the belief of less government. That is why I would vote for him.

McCain, to be quite frank, is more self serving then Bill ORielly - and that is saying a lot. :)

Any conservative who votes for McCain is crazy. Soon, thanks to McCain, the Tax code is going to be simpler to understand than the laws governing Free Speech 60 days prior to the election. What's worse is to look at who doesn’t have to worry about those laws: CBS, NY Times, AP, Chris Matthews. They will have free reign for all their October surprises courtesy of McCain. Never!!!

If McCain ever did run for President as a Republican, the media would turn on him on a dime and destroy him. There's no way they'd back a RINO, not when they'd have a genuine commie pinko Rat to get behind. The only way he could run for POTUS, and still keep getting invites to appear on Spitball, would be if he jumped ship and became a Rat.

Unfortunately for him, there is certain person in a foul crusty pantsuit who stands in his way.
