What Went Wrong?
The New Republic Online ^ | 11.04.04 | Peter Beinart

The other side may be euphoric, but the intensity of their happiness can't match the intensity of our despair. Honest conservatives, even those who admire President Bush, know he didn't earn a second term. They know he staked his presidency on a catastrophe, and that, by all rights, Iraq should be his political epitaph. Their victory, while sweet, can't be fully enjoyed because it isn't fully deserved.
....
But cultural sensitivity is one thing; principle is another. In their attempts to win rural voters, Democrats have already essentially abandoned gun control. That doesn't keep me up at night. But gay marriage is different. The fact that it is widely unpopular cannot obscure the fact that it is morally momentous and morally right...

I have been saying the same thing for months!!
It's just the word they want because they think it will validate them and erase their shame.

What do you mean, "our," paleface? If I were any happier, that grin on my face would freeze! I'm with you, Max. And who is this clown, on NRO?

Your not dead from a terrorist attack, are you Peter?

But gay marriage is different. The fact that it is widely unpopular cannot obscure the fact that it is morally momentous and morally right...

I'll bet you're a homosexual, right Peter? Otherwise, this comment is totally incoherent.

I stopped reading after the second paragraph.

Oh, and Peter, don't mix the Prozac with the Jack. Just look at Morford, and Dowd to see the ugly results of that mixture.

I didn't get any sleep Election night, so I was tired yesterday.

Oh me too! That's a big old fly in the ointment right there.

Oh well, I understand I can sleep when I'm dead. Life is still groovy.

I think we can measure the time that Kerry has spent in a barn during his lifetime in minutes.

Just don't demand we sanctify it by calling it marriage.

Exactly, it is about government sanctification. The left remains oblivious to their own fervent, blatant desire to establish Liberalism as a state religion.

What went wrong? Coors and Keyes lost. That's about it.

And those two we'll get next time.

"What Went Wrong?"

Umm, your ideas suck, your candidate was a flip-flopping spineless Communist and you are generally sour, disconnected people that want to lord over others to make yourselves feel better...that's for starters.

This will be, at least with regard to our public institutions, Tom DeLay's America--craven toward the economically powerful and vicious toward the economically weak, contemptuous of open debate and thuggish toward an increasingly embittered world.

We are contemptuous of intellectually vacant debate, and we are thuggish toward those who want to destroy us and our way of life. Vicious toward the economiccaly weak? No way. How about the parasites? Not vicious, but we'll toss them aside.
