Frist vs. Guiliani for 2008
11/04/04 | The Teen Conservative

Posted on 11/04/2004 5:44:44 PM PST by The Teen Conservative

There are about a dozen plus Republicans in the possibilities for 2008. But if we just limit it to two key front-runners, Frist and Guiliani, who would you go for? Even though McCain or Jeb (although he said he would not run)or Romney or Pataki or Allen are being shouted, this thread is assuming if it was only Frist and Guiliani.

Pardon me, but I don't want Guilani anywhere near the Presidency...he's too liberal.

No Senators. They are too compromised by their records.

Frist has NO chance of being president. Lacks alpha male qualities. Way too passive. It will NEVER happen.

Giuliani is pro-abortion. I wouldn't even consider voting for him.

Well ... I wouldn't mind him on the VP side of the ticket so long as we have strong conservative at the top. It would help to keep the moderates in the party with a strong, conservative ticket.

As for Frist ... he's a Senator. Haven't we learned, yet, that Senators aren't Presidential material anymore? the last one we elected President (from the Senate) was Kennedy. That was 44 years ago.

If the Republicans have nothing to offer but a moderate old timeserver or a flaming lib, I'm leaving the country.

Personally I think Cheney will serve a year or so and then step down for personal reasons. Bush will appoint someone from his cabinet or administration to replace Cheney who would be the clear front-runner for 2008.

These things were considered a LONG LONG LONG time ago.

Santorum's pretty solid, but he's a little young isn't he? He might be just a bit too feisty. Allen is handsome and slick, right? How is he politically? Is he a reliable conservative on defense, taxes, judges, etc?

Frist would be great. If there is truly a tide of conservatism coming in America, he would ride on it. But if the tide was just a temporary push for 2004 and it dies down or stops in 2006, some may push to look at someone like Romney. But even then I think Frist is good, although I need to research about George Allen; he seems interesting

Guiliani is pro-choice and Frist is as exciting as warm milk. We need another W.

Ditto. Rudy's place is Senator from NY in 2006. Don't put ideas of the Presidency into his head.
