How about a pyramid shaped walmart? The best of both worlds.

it is inevitable. Eventually, the entire surface of the earth will be covered in one giant Wal-Mart. It'll be like Borges' the Palace. And we will all work and live and breed inside Wal-Marts.

No doubt the anti-free traders will show up soon and suggest the jobs at the new Wal-Mart were outsourced from Peoria.

The Aztecs. Another proud, beautiful, and hopelessly cruel, dysfunctional and brutal people, brought to heel by the evil capitalists. And the peasants rejoice. Wal Mart is a much more appeasable god. And Wal-Mart doesn't stick it's tongue out at them...

Rest of the article mentions 'hundreds of other mainly smaller businesses have sprouted in the past decade or more' in the same 'supremely symbolic' area that Wal-Mart is.

I would be interested in seeing a pic of this area and see why it's ok to put up a bunch of small places in the area and not get a store that may have items that the local community can use. My guess that the other stores may be more tourist oriented...

It's okay. All the Mexicans have to do to stop it is break the mirror in the TV section of the store.

Now all that they need is a Home Depot and an AutoZone.
