LOS ANGELES (Nov. 6) - James Belushi has sued his next-door neighbor, actress Julie Newmar, accusing her of a "campaign of harassment" to drive him from his home.

In a lawsuit filed Nov. 2, the 50-year-old actor claims Newmar vandalized his estate by destroying a fence and landscaping. He also contends she bad-mouthed him to neighbors and friends, spied on his family and caused a nuisance by playing loud music directed at his backyard.

A telephone number for Newmar, who played Catwoman in the 1960s television series "Batman," was not immediately available. A call to Belushi's lawyers was not returned Saturday night.

The suit seeks an injunction against the actress as well as damages of at least $4 million plus attorneys' fees, saying her actions caused emotional distress and harmed Belushi's reputation and career.

"Newmar has engaged in a malicious and premeditated campaign to prevent and destroy Belushi's quiet peace," the suit says.

When in Ca. act eccentric, they'll think you're madly rich.

Probably the reason why they didn't muzzle Teresa out here...

There were several Catwomen. Which one was she?

The first and the best.

Six foot and built like a classic 50s/60s bombshell. She was Stupefyin' Jones in Lil Abner (1959), and Dorcas Gailen in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954).

Stupefyin' Jones (Julie Newmar)
Catwoman Julie Newmar
relatively recent (still good)

This site has some more stills, including a couple of (very mild) nudes from films www.zonafreak.com.ar/ femmes/julie_newmar.htm

My wife actually worked with her in NY Dinner Theater back in the 70s. My wife was in a company doing a production of Guys and Dolls in Westchester and Julie Newmar and Nathan Lane were in another production. Someone important wanted to see the show, but on a Monday night when everybody is off (I think it may have been Damon Runyon's widow, but it ain't my story) and they pulled together a complete cast from both companies.

She said Julie Newmar was really good, very professional, but really haughty. Found out later that she comes from big money family and that the haughtiness comes from that background, not from being a "star."

I'm getting a bad graphic image in my mind of her and Jimbo. I hope the years have been kind to her and the bod.

Belushi has gotten himself into a cat fight.

Julie Newmar is a stage name. Her real name is Julie Newmeyer.

James Belushi is an actor? I always thought he was the no-talent brother of John Belushi.

I worked in a hotel that hosted a Batman convention. Julie Newmar was there for three days and got smashed in the bar every night.

Life imitates art. Yeah, I know that this is Jim's brother (his last movie) but uncanny nonetheless.

I was going to ask if Newmar invested well on syndication checks or if Belushi blows his salary at the tracks, but you've answered the question about where her money comes from. Based on career incomes, Newmar should be in a seniors condo on Burton Way and Belushi should be just north of Santa Monica on Alpine.
