Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) considered calling for a top Bush administration official to resign after reading his recent comments on enforcing immigration laws, according to sources.Upset with Undersecretary for Border and Transportation Security Asa Hutchinson's remark that it would not be realistic to enforce current immigration laws, Tancredo, a staunch supporter of more immigration laws, contemplated calling for the administration officials resignation. The two Republicans planned last night to discuss their differences, and it is not expected that Tancredo will ask for Hutchinson to step down.Hutchinson last week told The Washington Times that it would be unrealistic to say that officials...

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., warned President Bush on Monday not to play politics with homeland security, after the White House reportedly asked Congress to remove some immigration measures from a pending intelligence bill. The legislation is meant to overhaul the nation's intelligence services, implementing recommendations of the commission that studied the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.A House version of the bill includes provisions to speed the deportation of illegal immigrants and prevent them from obtaining driver's licenses. It would also ban official use of identification cards that some foreign governments issue.Tancredo said Bush has asked that those provisions be removed...

From the Office of Congressman Tom Tancredo FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 4, 2004 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Tancredo (CO-06) was shocked to learn of the White House’s demand of House Republicans to exclude portions

Common Sense in Immigration Reform - ping.

"Arizona's Proposition 200 marks a milestone in the battle for common sense immigration reform," said Tancredo, chair of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus.

Am I missing something here? It seems this law is intended to prevent ILLEGAL immigrants from taking part in elections and receiving public funds, which would be ILLEGAL.

Is it possible that this hasn't received a lot of negative publicity because even the Judy Wooodruff crowd can't find a way to spin it?

Any law that affects voter's [sic] rights must be approved by the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice to ensure it conforms to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Certainly, it's a stretch to say this affects voters' rights.

Wow, I even forgot that Prop 200 was on the ballot; had it failed, I'm sure it would have been crowed on every national news program, but in passing, it wasn't even a blip...

Even on here, I missed news articles on it. Glad to hear that Arizona had sense.

Aztlan - Palestine Solidarity - Anti-semitism seems to be alive and well south of our border.

Osama bin Laden : The "Pancho Villa" of Islam - Osama bin Laden - a modern day Francisco (Pancho) Villa Mexican hero.

La Voz de Aztlan - Get a peek into what some Mexicans really think about issues of interest to many Americans. The site has many articles on similar subjects that could be deemed anti-American and support for what Americans considers terrorism groups and terrorist causes.

The measure was supported at the polls by 47% of Latino voters.

No different than the folks who move from Cobb or DeKalb or Fulton or Gwinnett and want to then impose stricter zoning to keep everybody else out.

By the way, Tancredo and I wanna know what you believe.
