Who gives a damn about Scott Petersen?

There are hundreds of threads posted on FR every single day; the grownups around here are quite capable of NOT CLICKING on the ones that don't interest us.

Then there is the other group: the ones that cannot stop themselves from bitching.

That would be you.

You will soon be longing for the days of Scott Peterson. Michael Jackson's trial begins in January. SURELY you won't be interested in that trial either.....will you...

The point of starting this thread was to demonstrate the utter absurdity of what the media thinks is National News, worth using big splashes of FOX NEWS ALERT, etc. You see the ALERT, your ears perk up, you look at the TV, and it's just more junk from the Peterson trial. In this era of terror attacks, we are helplessly drawn to anything we see as breaking news. It is akin to crying wolf. If this is what the 24/7 news cycle has led us to, then it's pretty sad. I don't mind them updating us on the trial, but they display any update as an alert. IMHO, as others have also stated, murders occur daily, and many more horrifying than this story, so why does the media latch on to this particular one and beat it into the ground?

Isn't their proper role to walk 3 steps behind their men?

hich is worse, all the coverage of the Petersen trial or -

having to read 61 posts to get the three that have a little info to the extent I am interested? When will the adults be taking charge? And why was the juror removed? 4 kids, law office and pink hair? Come on.

Fox actually broke away from the Rumsfeld press conference yesterday for a "breaking" story that the jury was having trouble deciding an outcome.
I went through the roof, it's been ages since I've seen a Rummy press conference, and they broke away to spend 30 minutes on this bile.

The Clinton News Network says the juror who was sacked was doing independent research on the case.

To those actually interesyed in what happened in the Peterson case, my apologies. To be honest with you, I have no idea who was removed (except a number) or why. What set me off was Fox News breaking into their regular news coverage with an alert then telling us this. We have a volatile situation in Fallujah, and lots of soldier families here watching the news. I'm sure when they see the alert screen, their hearts skip a beat or two.

[AP] PARIS - PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat is clinging to life as he awaits jury verdict in the Scott Peterson trial.

I'll bet good ol' Yasser ain't too happy about the juror since it probably prolongs things. The old boy just wants to cash in his chips and have at those 72 virgins.

I was trying to type as fast as the Fox babe was talking - apparently the little lady was a little too outspoken about her feeling that Scott is innocent (that according to Fox)plus other comments she made - I really think this is either going to end in a mistrial or hung jury.

It's going to be a hung jury, then we'll have to endure this all over again for months on end.

Funny you should mention that; I've noticed that same thing happening on almost ALL the threads lately. Remarks, but no context.

She was evidently doing "research" on her own, outside the jury deliberations; if she researched outside the jury during the trial, she might have mentioned it in deliberations and somebody told the judge.

They are saying she was always flirting with Geragos; and in her questioning for the jury, she said she would NOT change her mind once she made it up.

It may be a good thing.
