Interesting--but wouldn't it be cool to have this in county-by-county form, too!

Liberals are charitable with everyone else's money.

To be fair, liberals believe they are doing God's compassionate work by supporting the social redistibution of other peoples' money through the tax code.

They will say this just proves we are too ignorant to keep our own money and their Socialist Agenda is what all American's "really" want.

How do Teresa Heinz Kerry's personal charitable contributions stack up against, say, Utah's 5.14 percent of adjusted gross income?

I would love to see this chart stacked up against church attendance. N.H. is one of the least church-going states in the country. I bet the difference in charity is accounted for by differences in how much people spend on church contributions, missionary work, new buildings, etc.

This seems to be a kind of wierd way of calculating generosity. Wouldn't it make more sense to take Total Contributions and divide by Total Income to get a percent of contribution. So I did just that. Similar results, but not quite as overwhelming:

State % Voted For
Utah 5.14% Bush
Georgia 3.06% Bush
Alabama 3.02% Bush
South Carolina 3.00% Bush
Oklahoma 2.96% Bush
Maryland 2.94% Kerry
North Carolina 2.83% Bush
Idaho 2.79% Bush
Mississippi 2.75% Bush
New York 2.74% Kerry
Arkansas 2.60% Bush
Tennessee 2.53% Bush
Wyoming 2.45% Bush
Oregon 2.41% Kerry
Nebraska 2.38% Bush
California 2.37% Kerry
Virginia 2.37% Bush
Minnesota 2.32% Kerry
Colorado 2.32% Bush
Arizona 2.32% Bush
Kansas 2.32% Bush
Delaware 2.29% Kerry
Michigan 2.26% Kerry
Montana 2.25% Bush
Kentucky 2.21% Bush
Florida 2.20% Bush
Missouri 2.20% Bush
Illinois 2.18% Kerry
New Jersey 2.11% Kerry
Texas 2.07% Bush
Indiana 2.07% Bush
Nevada 2.06% Bush
Louisiana 2.04% Bush
Hawaii 2.03% Kerry
Ohio 2.03% Bush
Iowa 2.02% Bush
Connecticut 2.02% Kerry
Washington 2.02% Kerry
Pennsylvania 1.99% Kerry
Massachusetts 1.92% Kerry
Wisconsin 1.91% Kerry
New Mexico 1.85% Bush
Rhode Island 1.72% Kerry
Alaska 1.68% Bush
Maine 1.59% Kerry
South Dakota 1.58% Bush
Vermont 1.54% Kerry
North Dakota 1.50% Bush
New Hampshire 1.47% Kerry
West Virginia 1.35% Bush

In also should be noted that the nationwide average was 2.28%, in Bush states 2.39% and Kerry states 2.10%

Liberals want Big Government to be in charge of charity. They feel if they put government in charge then they wont feel guilty about charitable giving.

One reason why they like to divide society by Race, Religion, Gender and Economic class is in hopes that people will be more reliant on them to create artificial self esteem and self worth for everyone.

Its like the saying "give a man a fish and you have fed him for the day but teach him how to fish and you have fed him for life."

Well liberals get their self esteem from giving out fish.

It figures. To a liberal, charity is the job of the government.
