To me it sounds like Liver Failure.

Walter Payton died almost exactly the same way. In no time Walter wasted away to nothing. I also had a friend who died of that, in about a year he went from around 220# to 90# (he was an Alcoholic).

Remember, in the Soviet Union, how the Russian people never knew whether to believe Pravda or not? Today, the American people never know whether to believe the N.Y.Times (or any other mainstream "news source") or not.

"Newspaper of record" ideed! What a hoot! Future generations will laugh at their silly pretentions.

The internet is the newspaper of record.

I say AIDS was the killer. Now it's up to the PLO to disprove it.

Cancer and liver disease were both ruled out. Last I heard, Lupus and AIDS were about the last of the 'usual suspects' for Arafat.

Ah, but liberals bow to the NY Times. To them it is all knowing.

I wonder if they will feel the same concerning this Times article.

I believe I remember that they built an operating room at Arafat's Ramala compoound about 5 weeks ago. If I remember the reports correctly he underwent laparoscopy for cause of intraciable abdominal pain. When that happens you insufflate the abdominal cavity with CO2 gas to separate the viscera and abdominal wall and create a space to place the laparoscope. Without discussing the proceedure of exploring the cavity, once the proceedure is over, the instruments are removed and the gas is allowed to escape through the trocar ports. But you can never get it all out. One of the postoperative problems one encounters is the possibility of substantial diaphragmatic irritation because the intrabdominal pressure is relatively high. Postoperatively this will sometimes lead to subsegmental atelectasis (segmental collapse of portion of lung) or a full blown pneumonia. This is not trivial in a man his age. I do not know the trainging of the surgeon who performed this proceedure, but I cannot imagine proceeding with laparopscoy with thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). That would not happen in this country, as the smallest blood vessel could bleed significantly. If he became throbocytopenic after the laparoscopy but before he went to Paris it might have been to a number of causes, not the least of which is related to nutritional status, drug (medicine) induced, immunodeficiency of some sort, cancer of many kinds. If he was a practicing homosexual this must be considered. However if you look back at the photographs of Hudson, Liberace, and the others you see a substantial waisting syndome. Marked weith loss. I don't recall seeing that in him, though I cannot say I got a decent look. Many elderly will loose weight just due to aging. I am sure Paris physicians would have determined his lymphocyte types and know the answer as to whether he had HIVand or AIDS. He may have actually succumed from complications of the surgery done in the compound and could not respond to a simple pneumonia. Since he was on a ventilator for almost 10 days, then taken off, I suspect the final cause of death will be attributed to hypoxia, secondary to ventilatory insufficiency, secondary to hypostatic pneumonia, secondary to surgical complications or AIDS. I suspect from a policical standpoint we will never know the truth, unless the medical records from Paris are made public.

Yes, the Leftists believe the N.Y.Times. They think it's a source of truth. What a hoot!

But if they weren't delusional, they wouldn't be Leftists in the first place.

They're still trying to figure out what happened November 2nd. Reality just didn't conform to their delusions and what the N.Y.Times had been telling them--and, naturally, they believe the Times and their delusions rather than reality.

All the psychotherapy in the world won't save these lunkheads from themselves.

The Israeli Mossad is to blame! They must have sent an infected boy for Yassar to play with.

There has been a widely played video on the news during all this that shows Arafat seated, surrounded by his advisors/cohorts and holding hands with two of them. He pulls the hand of the "advisor" on his right close to his mouth and begins to pucker up, when the advisor realizes what Arafat is doing, he quickly jerks his hand away from Arafats mouth, AS IF HE KNOWS ARAFAT HAS THE PLAGUE (or some other communicable disease). The video clip abruptly ends just as this happens. Can someone post this clip? It's been all over the news for the last 3 weeks.

I remember that despicable sub-human giving blood.

Thankfully, blood testing was routinely done at the time.

What a perfect opportunity for him to appear sympathetic toward America and do something honourable like give blood. In reality, he knows he has AIDS and is hoping to pass the disease on to a few more people.

I hope this comes out with such evidence that it cannot be disputed.
