Red vs. Blue

There's so much being said about Red vs. Blue states, it's beginning to sound as though the entire population of the red states voted for President Bush and the entire population of the blue states voted for Kerry. It’s as though the red states are comprised entirely of neanderthal, bible-thumping rednecks, and the blue states are comprised entirely of the intellectual, all-knowing, global-aware elites. Well, I did a summary of the Blue states and it turns out that 24,839,492 bible-thumping neanderthals from those states voted for George W. Bush. In looking at the Blue states, they comprise most of the largest cities in the country – Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, etc., i.e., the government handout crowd coupled with their liberal sympathizers. In D.C., George got less than *10%* of the vote! The welfare crowd sure knows where their checks come from!

If you were to look at a county-by-county map of the blue states, you would see that they pretty much mirror the country as a whole - rural areas are red, comprised of Americans who work and are endowed with strong, moral clarity, and large, urban areas are blue, comprised of chronic complainers and conspiracy buffs.

At any rate, here's the summary for the 20 Blue states:

George W. Bush: 24,839,492 ……45.27%

John F. Kerry: 30,023,917…….54.73%

It still cracks me up when I think of the 2000 election in which Floridians couldn't follow a line from a name to a circle and ended up voting for Pat Buchanan, or all those busloads of welfare blacks who were too dumb to figure out a simple ballot and ended up invalidating their votes. I suppose they're included in that 1 million (just count ‘em folks! A cool, even million!) blacks who were disenfranchised!

The outcome of this election particularly cracks me up when I think of Clinton, whose only concern is his legacy, now has to sit on the sidelines and watch as history thrusts greatness on a great man!

You can look at the USA Today county-by-county map. That's probably what the libs so upset, they're lost in a sea of red.

Many of the people who provide the brain power to the corporations in the big "blue state" cities are educated Bush supporters. I work in New York City and know many of these folks, they commute in from the suburbs "red areas"

This shows the brillance of the founding fathers.They only had 13 states but were worried about a few,relativly speaking,urban areas that would control the entire country.Thus was the motive behind the electoral college.

With respect, it isn't as much a "sea of red" as you think it is - take a look at this map: there's a VERY fine distinction between the red and blue on the map in your posting.

Shenandoah - Heavens, now you are pulling the "they're too dumb" line, too. You're no better than the snotty dems who think the rest of America is too dumb to "get it".

Nowhere that I know of are otherwise eligible voters required to take intelligence tests before being permitted to register. It is naive, not to mention racially biased, to disparage an entire group of people based on their race - nothing is ever that cut and dried.

I wonder if you broke out the voting by people who receive social services,[Welfare] how the map would reflect that? I'd be willing to bet large welfare receiving cities dominate Blue in Kerry and hard working average joes in the heartland beat Red for Bush.

Comes down to ethics and how you were raised.

I'm a new subscriber and welcome the opportunity to participate in this forum, but I am really looking for some help: Shortly after the election, possibly as a result of the exit polls, I heard or saw a report that said homeownership rates for blue city voters was 35%, vs. a 70% rate for red zone voters. I am seeking a source for this information. Maybe you can help me or direct me to someone who can.
