Bush monument set to be unveiled in Houston

HOUSTON - The unveiling ceremony for a monument to honor former President George Bush is planned for early December.

The George Bush Presidential Monument is located in a Houston park. It's a one-point-seven (m) million dollar project.

One of the project's organizers tells the Houston Chronicle that the monument, which will remain fenced off until the unveiling, is a nonpartisan and privately funded gift to the city by civic leaders and private foundations.

The monument's features include a plaza with a wall featuring four reliefs depicting key moments in the 41st president's career, an eight-foot sculpture, timelines, quotations from Bush speeches and benches for visitors.

I think you're right about the pizza place. My aunt sees him there sometimes. I think that's what she called it.

I've never been there though.

Oh, that's nice. I think every Texan felt affection for that dog!

I wonder if that sculpture is the one by David Adickes that has been in various places (including the Continental Airlines concourse) out at George Bush Houston Intercontinental Airport?

I kind of like that one, with the jacket flowing behind him. It's different, but it's a very good likeness and it depicts him well.

You mean this one?

Read posts 48 and 57.

BTW - Bush Airport in Baghdad was a joke - and a good "in your face" one.

Sorry, but your posts at 48 and 57 have not convinced me. We can spend our money how we like.

He is a good neighbor here in Houston. A nicer man than you can imagine. He is kind and gracious and we love him.

I think the monunment is a great idea. I also like the Barbara Bush Library near my home.

Also, you must not fly much.

The largest airport in Houston is the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. (Second largest in Texas) It has been named that for years.

That's fine with me too.
