National Security Adviser Is Bush's Choice to Replace Powell

Nov. 15, 2004 — National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice will be nominated to replace Colin Powell as secretary of state, ABC News has learned.

Senior administration sources confirmed that Rice would be Bush's choice. The news comes just hours after the White House announced Powell had submitted his resignation.

Rice, considered to be one of the president's closest counselors, has served as national security adviser since Bush first took office.

Yes, just heard this, too. Strange, heard on the radio (Rush?) this afternoon that she didn't want it and was getting tired of the long hours.

Now, who will replace her?

Maybe no one, ala Kissinger....but I doubt it.

It'd be nice to see a Wolfowitz type at NSA.

Go Condi Go!

Exactly what I was going to write. This is not going to be easy. Bustin' heads is right, GEC. But this woman can absolutely articulate a revolutionary change in State, where Powell was best suited to a status quo approach.

Here's hoping she can stop the anti-Bush policy whispering campaign that Powell not only allowed but I tend to think promoted.

I hope that Dr Rice those liberals in State who were left over from the Clinton Administration. If they are civil service employees they should be retired. We need a State Department that agrees with our President.
