The multiverse theory has spawned another - that our universe is a simulation, writes Paul Davies.
If you've ever thought life was actually a dream, take comfort. Some pretty distinguished scientists may agree with you. Philosophers have long questioned whether there is in fact a real world out there, or whether "reality" is just a figment of our imagination.
Then along came the quantum physicists, who unveiled an Alice-in-Wonderland realm of atomic uncertainty, where particles can be waves and solid objects dissolve away into ghostly patterns of quantum energy.
Now cosmologists have got in on the act, suggesting that what we perceive as the universe might in fact be nothing more than a gigantic simulation.
The story behind this bizarre suggestion began with a vexatious question: why is the universe so bio-friendly?

Suspect you are in trouble now. LOL.
I thought about that, and was going to edit in a huge number, but then thought it would be better to leave it as God being the only one actually "logged in", with everyone and everything else being just daemons and procs. I shudder to think what the output of "ps" would be on universe.heaven.org.
All I know is that the God of OUR Universe majored in the hard sciences at God College - physics and chemistry, specifically. With a minor in biology (hey, it's taken 4 BILLION years to go from single cell non-nucleic life form to apes and humans. Shoot, give me 4 billion years and I could figure that one out). Bio-friendly my fat white a--.
What happens in the Fifth Dimension, stays in the Fifth Dimension.
YOU PEOPLE MAKE MY HEAD HURT!!!!
BTTT!
There was a man at the White House testing this very theory just yesterday.
Is he toasting a "marshmellon"?
(Life is not a dream, Captain.)
hehehe...the window fan in that picture exhibits a sophisticated and advanced learning environment.
