It's 'Don't Bring Your Guns to Work Day'

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Reuters) - Employees at a Little Rock office building have been asked to leave their deer hunting rifles at home because the president and three former presidents are coming to town to open Bill Clinton's presidential library.

Acxiom Corporation distributed a memo to the 420 employees in its 12-story sales and marketing building in Little Rock's River Market district -- near the Clinton library -- reminding them of its policy forbidding weapons on company property.

"This would not be a time to violate that policy," said Dale Ingram, spokesman for Acxiom.

The Acxiom building overlooks the library, where President Bush and former presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and Clinton are to speak.

Deer hunting season in Arkansas began last weekend, and overlaps with the dedication, on Thursday, of Clinton's library.

Deer hunters in Arkansas take the sport so seriously that many of them keep their rifles and shotguns and other equipment in their cars, which makes it easier for them to get in a few hours in the woods before or after leaving work.

"With hunting season opening, associates should be especially mindful not to have firearms, ammunition or other weapons in their vehicles," the Acxiom memo noted.

I can actually understand the idea of not wanting a bunch of cars full of rifles and shotguns at a site overlooking where 4 Presidents will be speaking.

I just thought the tone was odd about how hunters "take the sport so seriously" they keep rifles in their car.... Can you imagine a article saying "They take the sport so seriously they keep a football in the car"?

the guns are not the problem as long as theres not someone in the car or truck with the gun.I don't know of a case where an unattended, unloaded, and locked up gun killed anyone.

True. I don't think that anything would happen, I'm just saying I actually can see where that line of thinking comes from.

Any word on when the "library" is going to start taking non-VIP appointments for "massages"?

Perhaps they were more concerned with bystanders. You know, the guy walking by, looks up, sees Clinton, looks left, sees a rifle....

Congratulations for not understanding the Leftist mindset. I remember such stupid remarks after 9/11. The local media went on and on about how wonderful it was that people were buying flags, but threw up nothing but alarmist anti-gun bullcrap when sales of firearms went through the roof. So basically it was great that people who never took pride in their country suddenly were buying flags, but it was awful that people who understood their rights were actually daring to exercise them!

intresting personal story--I was living in a northern ohio town when Bush 41 was president--I had been out pheasant hunting and had my shotgun in its case lying in the open in back of my station wagon--as I turned onto main street I was motioned to the curb because President Bush was in town--in fact he walked right past my car.All the while the secret service men were talking to me about the pheasants and my bird dog. After I arrived home and was recounting this to my wife, she looked startled and said"oh my God your shotgun was in plain sight its a wonder they didn't arrest you!" I guess my purple heart license plate and my Bush sticker on the car assured them I was somewhat safe.

...I don't know of a case where an unattended, unloaded, and locked up gun killed anyone.

Think about it. According to the MSM, SUV's have been out wrecking havoc and causing all sorts of accidents. So to their way of thinking, its not out of the realm of possibility that and unattended firearm could just suddenly jump up and start blazing away.
