"A mandate? You call this a mandate?"

Yes, especially considering the gains in Congressional seats and governorships.

>>>>And how can Bush have six millions more votes than Reagan and yet win only 31 states?

This might put your mind a bit at ease.

Square miles of counties won
Bush 2.54 million
Kerry 592,000

Population (2003) of counties won
Bush 159,2 million
Kerry 130.9 million

...Not only has he garnered 11 million more votes than in 2000, Pres. Bush has also broken Pres. Reagan's 1984 record by nearly 6 million votes!...

Do you know if anyone has adjusted the figures for population growth?

From post #27:

The vote % is still Bush 51% Kerry 48% because, of course, Kerry has also been receiving votes (especially in CA where Kerry is taking a majority of the absentee votes).

Dear DUmmy,

This is the reason your Grand Nagus told you to never post links from over here again:

You don't win the presidential race by winning square milage or the popular vote. You win the presidency by winning the electoral vote.

That map sez it all..
a sea of red with pockets of resistance.

Unfortunately, those pockets are heavily infested.

"And how can Bush have six millions more votes than Reagan and yet win only 31 states?"

Considerably higher voter turnout. This proportion in no way dininishes the acheivements of the Great Man, President Ronald Reagan, who is also my favorite president.

In this new world, however, President George W Bush is rising to the current globl crisis as capably and admirably as I know President Reagan would have, and history will look upon President Bush's legaacy as no less important as President Reagan's.

That's OK, Reagan Man. It's the thought that counts. And I can always count on you as a good example of a Reagan fan, as I am.

Can't tell you now painful it is to see Wisconsin in blue. The vote differential was under 12,000, and we had anticipated upwards of 20,000 in fraud...think W got robbed!

BTW, story on Milwaukee news today about 3-400 absentee ballots being mysteriously found that weren't counted...and won't be...the election process in this state is absolutely pathetic.
